Luvena Leslie Salon - New Haven, Connecticut, United States

Mar 19, 2014 - After spending a lifetime seeking a stylist who can cut my thick, curly mane without shattering the ends or leaving me with the dreaded triangle head, I have found Luvena. Have had 2 haircuts with her and was thrilled both times. This woman can cut curly hair! She gets it, she has vision, she can see what to do, and she does it effortlessly. And she's cool and fun to talk to. I like her reasonable prices and that her salon is fun but unpretentious. It's all so real there. I plan to return to her and just hope she keeps on cutting in New Haven. She's such an asset to the curly world!

Chameleon Hair Color Cafe & Spa - North Haven, Connecticut, United States

Oct 07, 2010 - Just a note--this is the same Kate that now owns Salon Space on Washington Ave in North Haven (and is thus no longer at Chameleon). If you want Kate Young, go to Salon Space. She is phenomenal!

Kate Young

Oct 07, 2010 - I went to Kate last week after reading the positive review on her on this site. Though I appreciate my thick, curly hair, I have struggled w/ it for years, never having been able to achieve any style I've really loved (think the dreaded mushroom, the dreaded box look). Well, she gave me the most fantastic cut--w/ deft scissor technique she took out the bulk while leaving the length--which is what I've been after forever. And going forward, she has a vision for my hair that matches my own. In addition to really, truly understanding curly hair and how to work with and cut it, she is bright, articulate, and a complete professional and loves to discuss with you her ideas and vision, but never forcing it on you. She's got a new customer for life! Thank you, naturallycurly.com, for existing and helping me find the stylist I've been looking for my whole life! (FYI, she is also the same Kate at Chameleon Salon in North Haven, reviewed in 2007--she no longer works there but owns Salon Space!)
