Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls

Dec 29, 2014 - This is my HOLY GRAIL styling product. No questions asked. It defines my curls like nobody's business. I use this for wash n go's, and also for braid outs (i layer braid outs on top of 2-3 day old wash n go's to stretch my hair a little bit) and it works great on all of them. My hair gets so bouncy and full looking after I put this on with a little bit of my favorite leave-in and then diffuse. I purchased my tube of this at Target for $22 (the price is the worst thing about this product) and I've had my one tube for about seven months. I normally apply this in sections, with a little less than a dime size per section. I almost always diffuse on a cool setting, and after diffusing I scrunch out the crunch and am left with soft ringlets. I don't care for the smell (it smells like laundry detergent) but it works. Also, i'm able to use this product year round with no problems, but that may also be because I live in a climate that is dry, with no humidity to speak of. Love this product and highly recommend it. The sister product to this one, Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls is also a great product. LOVE!!

Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Dec 28, 2014 - A lot of curlies seem to really enjoy using KCKT, but I just couldn't roll with this conditioner. I LOVED the smell, and that it could be used as a styling product, but that was where the love for this product ended. I have fine, 3b/3c hair that is on the looser side. I figured after seeing so many glowing reviews that I would love it too and that it would replace my Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner. NOPE. This styler is very greasy. It feels greasy on my hands and goes on my hair greasy too. It also did not play well with my favorite stylers, and that was the deal breaker for me. I will not give up stylers that have worked for 6+ months for a leave-in. If I found the perfect amount of product to use, I would be able to use this as a leave in and styler, but finding that perfect balance every time is challenging, and I would rather not have to go through that every time I wash and style my hair. If I got it right, I would have an amazing hair day. If I didn't....things weren't so good. These things quickly ended my relationship with Kinky Curly Knot Today. I gave my almost full bottle to my cousin who has thicker hair and a different texture.

Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls

Jul 10, 2014 - I tried this product as an alternative to Pillow Soft Curls. Pillow Soft Curls has become my styler of choice. It delivers gorgeous, defined, soft curls every time. I do not usually use gels because my hair is so dry, and they seem to suck the moisture right out of my hair.I figured that Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls would be the same, but I was wrong. I bought this because I wanted something that would add volume, make my hair big and temporarily 'cancel out' my dominant curl pattern (I have 3b 'S' pattern curls at my roots and towards the middle section of my hair whereas the ends are tightly curled 3c ringlets. My 'evil' patch at the nape of my neck is probably a 2a and doesn't curl at all to till the very ends, and for some reason, that one damn section is CONSTANTLY forming dreadlocks. It's very odd). I love Pillow Soft Curls, but I do not always want a defined curl. Sometimes I want the 3b section to take over. I've figured out how I have to use this gel. If I use this gel for a wash-n-go, I will not like the results. My hair dries in a strange shape and still retains its dominant curl pattern. What I learned is that I need to use this gel after a wash-n-go but i MUST braid my hair and leave it in a plait for at least a day. After I remove the plait and pick out my hair with an afro comb-BOOM. There it is, exactly what I wanted-moisturized, soft, big, voluminous hair. I normally do not get big hair, even when I use a pick, but for some reason with the Jelly Soft Curls, I did. I used coconut oil underneath the gel as a leave-in and spritz the plait with water at night and then once in the day. I am so, so pleased with this product. I did not use a conditioner because I had heard that Jelly Soft does not play well with other leave-ins. The coconut oil helped me a lot with moisture, I just used it very lightly. I cannot speak to a hold because I do not pay attention to things like that. LOL! Where I live it's not humid, I have to worry about sea-fog. But I really appreciate the Jelly Soft Curls. I got great results-oh and my hair did not shrink!!! LOVE IT.
