Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Fortifying Conditioner

Dec 18, 2012 - This is the first conditioner I bought when I went CG about three weeks ago. I use it as a rinse out and a leave in, and my hair has become SO much more moisturized since I started. I recently switched to a different conditioner (one by Nature's Gate) and instantly my hair felt dryer, so I switched right back to this. I think it is a great, cheap drugstore product that I will be purchasing again. It also smells great. The slip is not excellent; it feels almost like my hair sucks it right up, but I keep using more and more and never end up greasy or weighed-down. So, if your hair tangles easily this might not be the best option. But my hair rarely tangles and I have no problem finger detangling with this. I only rated it 4 curls because while I love it, it's not perfect enough to keep me from trying other options!

DevaCurl Heaven in Hair Intense Moisture Treatment

Dec 11, 2012 - I love this stuff! I have been using it once a week and it has done wonders for my hair. I recently started CG, and my hair was (and still is) under-moisturized and frizzy. Once a week I wet my hair at night, put a generous amount of this in my hair, and leave it in for half an hour. I haven't done it with heat or any hood/cap, I just leave it in my hair while I go about my business. Then I get back in the shower, co-wash to really rinse it out (I feel like it is a little difficult to wash out), and then put on my leave-in and go to bed. The next morning, my hair is so soft and my curls (after wetting & styling) have increased clumping and less frizz. I don't know how this product will continue to work as my hair becomes healthier and more moisturized, but it has been a great starting product for me. I deducted one curl because I really hate the smell. It is very strong and perfumey, and gives me a minor headache if I think about it too much. My hair also ends up smelling faintly of it the next day, because the smell is very strong.

DevaCurl Light Defining Gel (formerly AnGEL)

Dec 11, 2012 - This gel works pretty well in my hair. It also smells absolutely wonderful. I like how light it is- it leaves my hair feeling soft and bouncy once I scrunch out a little crunchiness. This gel doesn't have too much hold though (obviously, it has "light defining" in the title), so if you are looking for a heavier product, this is not for you. For performance, I would get it four curls. I deducted one curl because I need to use A LOT of this gel to get any results and it is expensive. My hair is 2c, high density, and about an inch below chin-length and I have blown through a quarter of this bottle in one week (using it on wet hair every day). I can't imagine how much I'd use if my hair were longer!
