SheaMoisture African Black Soap Balancing Conditioner

Mar 24, 2013 - I absolutely love this conditioner. I first bought it for my husband with the shampoo because he has an itchy, dry, flaky scalp; he likes the shampoo and conditioner, as it balances out his scalp and reduces the itching and flaking. Since we had it on hand I started using it myself - I tried it as a pre-poo and I liked it all right, but I wanted a more intense moisturizing for a pre-poo (so I switched to the Purification Masque, which I love so far). Now I use it as a rinse-out conditioner because my favored line, Coconut & Hibiscus, doesn't have one. I really like it as a rinse-out. It gives so much slip, makes detangling easy, and it makes my hair soft and touchable. Plus it smells really good - some people don't like the plantain smell but I love it.

SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo

Mar 24, 2013 - I bought this shampoo for my husband, because he has an itchy, dry, flaky scalp. He really likes it for his scalp - he's pretty cheap, but he opts to continue to purchase this $10 shampoo rather than the $4 shampoo he used to pick up at the drugstore/grocery store. So I see that as a win. He says it reduces the itchiness and dryness of his scalp. Recently I also decided to use it as a clarifying shampoo. It works pretty well for that, I think! I don't have itchy scalp issues, so I can't speak to that, but this shampoo does remove buildup pretty well (not as well as a sulfate shampoo, but I've stopped using silicones and mineral oil on my hair so it does well enough to remove the natural-only products I use) and leaves my hair clean and fresh-smelling. I am also crazy about the plantain scent.

Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Mar 24, 2013 - I'm kind of "meh" about Knot Today. I bought the entire KC line of products (shampoo, leave-in, KCCC) because I was told that you had to use them together for them to work. I disagree with that. I love the custard but this conditioner was just so-so. While it did leave my hair soft and was a GREAT detangler, it wasn't moisturizing enough for my hair - my curls feel a bit thirsty after putting it on, so I have to add some moisture using other products. But this conditioner doesn't really seem to like to play with other products, plus I felt like I was just weighing down my hair with a bunch of product. It left a sort of filmy feeling to my hair that I didn't like. So I don't use it too much; the only time that I did use it recently was to put some on before I undid some braids, which it was great for because it has excellent slip.
