Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo

Dec 12, 2014 - I've read horror stories about how this shampoo and conditioner combo can dry out the hair and strip it, so when my stylist suggest I try this for maintenance during the long stretch I go between my highlights, I decided to do a deep conditioning treatment before as well as after using the shampoo and conditioner combo wash. I also mixed coconut oil in with the concoction. While my hair wasn't left feeling stripped or dry at all, this product didn't brighten my hair. In fact, it darkened my hair from a sunny blonde to a dark ash blond almost nonexistent highlights. It's quite possibly my fault for mixing in coconut oil, but I'm still waiting for the dull color to fade wash by wash. It slowly but surely is. I probably won't use it again.

L.A. Looks Mega Mega Gel

May 23, 2014 - I'm not really sure if this is CG friendly, but I've spend literally hundreds of dollars during the past few years on CG friendly products and all natural products that just don't cut it with my curls. I've been using this gel for 12 years now, and nothing, *nothing* ever holds, defines, and keeps my curls frizz-free like this does. I live in southeast GA, and this really stands up to the constant humidity. I've tried so many other products, many of them even CG friendly or all natural, and they just can't tame the frizz that is my hair like this can if I want my hair to last more than one day after a wash. I know a lot of people have concerns about the crunch, but I found that mixing it with a good alcohol-free mousse or using lots of leave in has countered the crunch. If this product ever disappears, I will pretty much just give up and cut off all the hair. 3A/3B combo

Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Curl Defining Creme

May 01, 2014 - This product does a good job of holding my curls without feeling too product-y. I feel like it's lacking in moisture, though, because my hair does feel a bit dry after use, but it's better than the result I get with gel. It's has a very strong artificial coconut scent, and it does last quite some time. I like the smell, but I could see how it could bee irritating or troublesome for others. I wish this product had more moisture and slip, but it holds up decently against the humidity. The trick is in using the perfect amount. (3A/3B combo)
