Spiral Solutions Strength and Shine Leave-In Protein Spray

Sep 30, 2010 - It's taken me a while to figure out how to integrate this product (leave ins for me are best if they are creamy and fairly heavy), but as a mid-day refresher or as a detangler before combing, this is brilliant. I actually like it more for days that I don't go 'curly' and just end up leaving my hair in a braid or a bun. This can sit there all day like a long-term mini protein treatment and works fantastically like that.

Spiral Solutions Repairing Protein Treatment

Sep 30, 2010 - I think this might be the star of the Spiral Solutions line. This is a fantastic protein treatment, hard enough for serious repair, but gentle enough to be used as a rinse-out if you don't leave it in too long. It distributes fairly easily, and if you're not in such dire need of protein that it's all gone the moment it hits your hair, even detangles a little. My super-porous, very fine hair drinks this stuff up, perhaps a little too quickly!

Spiral Solutions Firm Holding Styling Gel

Sep 30, 2010 - I like this gel quite a lot - and I generally dislike and therefore don't use gels. I get fairly good hold with this, particularly in combination with the curl enhancing jelly, and my hair even remains touchable to the point where I can run my fingers through my hair in the evening and have no tangles (!!!!). It really does need to be used on sopping wet hair, however; if I used it on just damp or wet (but not sopping) hair, I got insane spider-webby frizz with this.

Da Vinci - Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom

Jun 17, 2009 - I needed a trim. I was surprised to find not one but two of the staff are naturally curly, and better yet know how to cut curly hair! The cut itself was fine - she didn't do a dry cut, but instead looked at how much the length changed from wet to dry, and then took precisely as much as necessary off. She even trimmed my frame properly (no razors!), and knew how to style curly hair. The price is very reasonable for UK stylists - £21 for wash, cut, and style - and the shop has a lovely atmosphere. My only true annoyance is that they're big on Redken products, which are full of 'cones. The stylist, however, was aware of the CG method but had her own issues with it. Fair enough: cones wash out, and I was mostly more concerned with not having my hair hacked to bits. I'd give this place a 4 out of 5 stars: Good value, good service, shame about the cones, but they'll wash out.
