Sep 03, 2010 - I had a haircut with Tameeka yesterday. I was somewhat anxious about getting my hair cut as I'd only been getting trims for the last two years. I also have at least four different textures on my head (left side-loose waves, right side-curlier and thicker, top back-even curlier and very highly porous, nape hair-baby fine hair that is almost straight). My hair was a little longer than BSL and one length. I'd had the Ouidad cut on multiple occasions, but didn't like having one length or "flat" hair. I like my hair big. I also wanted to retain as much length as possible, but knew I needed a trim and my perimeter evened out (I'd been conducting search and destroys for months). I also wanted some face framing layers and layers in the back that would "round" my hair out and reduce/eliminate the mushroom (hat and stalk) effect with which I have always struggled due to the tight curls on top of the barely wavy nape hair. When I tell you I walked out with everything that I wanted, I am not kidding you!!! Every question I had, Tameeka answered. I thought I already knew a lot about using products, but she taught me applications methods with which I wasn't the least familiar. Tameeka was amazing and the salon was great. Even though it is on Fifth Ave in NYC, it wasn't the slightest bit pretentious!! It was actually cozy and comfortable!! I will definitely be going back to Tameeka when it's time to cut again. It is so hard to find someone you trust with your curly hair and I am so happy to know that I've finally found that person!! My avatar pic is my hair after the cut. LOVE it and can't wait to style it myself and with a few homemade concoctions I've found on (flax seed gel) and youtube (kimmaytube's pH balanced leave-in recipe with some ingredient modifications).
