Diane Da Costa, author of “Textured Tresses,” will embark on an American Beauty Tour this fall that will include complete beauty makeovers for 14 lucky curlies.

The tour — which kicks off in September and runs through November — is about celebrating the beauty of textured tresses, be they relaxed, naturally straight, wavy, curly or coily. During the 3-hour workshops, Da Costa will recreate styles that she’s crafted for photo shoots, magazine covers and music videos for such stars as Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz and L’Oreal model Janine Green. Each event will include a fashion show, where the hottest, trend-setting looks will be unveiled. There will be a panel discussion featuring hair, makeup and fashion experts to answer all your beauty questions.

On three of of the tour dates, Da Costa and her team will hit college campuses in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. with a special two-hour beauty career panel discussion called “Making it in the Beauty Industry.” Da Costa and other industry experts will answer questions in this exclusive forum.

The event is open to women with all hair textures, of all ethnicities who are at least 18 years old. Hairstylists are welcome to attend.

“We’re really excited about bringing texture to the rest of the country – not just New York and L.A.,” Da Costa says. “We’re doing actual styling and makeovers, with education and entertainment.”

As part of the tour, 14 lucky naturally curly beauties will be selected by NaturallyCurly.com and Vibe magazine. During one-on-one sessions, each American Beauty will be treated to an all-over transformation that will include a complete hairstyle, makeup and wardrobe revamp on the tour. Da Costa will maximize every beauty’s true hair potential executing the style she wished she always had.

Michelle Breyer

As co-founder of NaturallyCurly.com, a website for curly hair she began with her business partner and friend, Gretchen Heber, Michelle Breyer helped create the leading community and resource for people with curly hair. Frustrated by the lack of information on curly hair and the limited products available in the marketplace, the duo launched the site in 1998 with the help of a 14-year-old web designer. When Procter & Gamble called three years later to advertise to the NaturallyCurly.com® audience, Breyer knew they had indeed created a force in the industry, providing helpful information and unparalleled expertise for what was then considered a niche market.
