A 2010 study of 100 African-American women found that there was a correlation between women who sport natural hairstyles and high self-confidence (“self-esteem”).

Women who feel good about themselves are more likely to wear their hair natural! If you wear your hair natural, consider yourself a role model for others. Confidence is not only a positive character trait; it’s contagious.

Thank you, Miss_Mesa and others who decided to call Spiral Queen out on her ignorance. Spiral Queen...I've noticed that you tend to say things that are just ridiculous. Stop talking about stuff you know nothing about. You are NOT a woman of color. You are not black or biracial. This is not about you.
Way to go Spiral Queen! It's always those who don't understand a thing about the AA community that go and say things like this. It blows my mind because some of those exact people make smart comments about AA women and their use of weaving and extensions. I feel like if the study is already NOT about you, don't take offense and don't go calling anyone racist when smart comments and racial remarks are usually made about the majority of AA Women who choose not to be natural!
Sprial Queen, Saying the study smells racist is going a bit far. In the AA community, there are of a multitutde of issues around hair/type/texture. So for those of us who have chosen to go natural, confidence was essential to stay the course. No one is saying you're not natural. The study wasn't about you!! That's not racist it's just was the researcher decided to study.
The Spiral Queen is a moron.
It's not racist. It's just who was included in this particular study. If they did a study about the self-confidence levels of bald men when would you call that sexist?
How about people who AREN'T AA? So apparently my hair isn't 'natural' because I'm not AA. Smells racist.
