I had a wonderful experience at this salon. Initially I called Candace to get some advice...my daughter and I are both going natural and we were in desperate need of a consultation and a good wash. Candace is very nice and she did a wonderful job with our hair. The salon is very nice and relaxing as well. I am extremely pleased with the results and plan to continue going to this salon.

This was my first real "curly" cut. It was such a relief to walk in a salon and not have my hair looked at like the pelt of some foreign animal. Candace dove right on in and she speaks our language, telling me that my hair was a mix of 4b and 4c. She did a quick razor cut, deep conditioning treatment and twist out. The salon is kind of pricey. Probably normal for Atlanta standards, but at $100 for my visit (and the deep conditioning treatment was actually free), I'll probably have to save her for special occasions. Anyway everybody loved my twistout. I washed my hair this morning, put in the same products I've been using for months and OMG I can't believe the difference in my hair. It has gone from being an impenetrable mass to actually having shape and definition. I'm so happy. I've changed my mind about getting locks and I'm going to try to work with my hair and get it longer.

Decided to try Candace based on the one review here since it's close to my home and I've been looking for someone who really knows curly hair. When I got there, I found that this is actually an African American salon using products (except for some Paul Mitchell products) and techniques better suited for black hair than for my caucasian 3a/3b curls. I didn't care that all the staff and their current clientele were black as I figured curly hair is curly hair, right? But after some extremely rough handling by first the shampooer and then Candace herself (made me think there's no wonder I hear so many black women complain of breakage if this rough, painful, combing, pulling, and concentrated heat is common! I had to physically move the diffuser away 2-3 times because she was literally burning my scalp - I had two sores later), I came away $95 plus $10 tip poorer after just a deep conditioner, cut and quick diffuser partial drying - A lot more costly than I was expecting, in more ways than one, since I haven't been able to do a thing with my hair in the week since she cut it. As for the cut itself, she SEEMED to know what she was doing, but that is evidently NOT the case based on the results I got. Also, FYI, I had a 6:30 appt., she didn't get to me at all until 7:15 and I didn't get out of there until after 9:00, for only condition, cut and literally about five minutes of blow drying. I smelled like coconut for three days from something she used, despite shampooing every day. I don't think I'll be going back!
