After a lot of research, I chose the salon for my big chop after 17 months of transitioning. Was offered water or tea as soon as I walked into the salon. Louie eased my fears about my haircut and color. He walked me through his process. My haircut and highlights came out great. I retained most of my length. Will be back in 4 months for a trim.

Casey is an absolute hair cutting angel!!! She cut about 11 inches off my curls today and I couldn't be happier with my hair! Before today every haircut has been a tramatic experience, but for the very first time in my life I have a haircut I LOVE all thanks to Casey at Beehive. It was amazing how much time Casey spent just talking with me about my hair, what I was looking for in a style, products for my specific hair and how sure she wanted me to be about talking off so much length. Within the first 3 minutes of sitting down in her chair I knew I was in the capable hands that had been missing all these years. She cut my hair by the devacurl method while it was dry and it then again after my wash, condition and dry she did even more sculpting. Right after my wash and condition Casey had be flip my head forward and low and behold she got on the floor, literally, and proceeded to work product through my hair( I knew then and there that I was in love). I am no longer afraid of getting my hair cut and am looking forward to my next cut with Casey which I've already booked 3 months in advance. Casey is only at beehive for a few days every six weeks, so call ahead and reserve an appointment with her because she is so worth the wait. My haircut only cost $83 before tip and product purchases...which I might add were not pushed at all. I'm so glad I trusted the reviews on NaturallyCurly and went to Beehive!

Casey saved my life after a horrible hairtasrophe. I had "mildly" relaxed my 3b/3c hair over the summer (2005) to defrizz it, what ended up happening was half way through growing out the horrible chemical a few months later, my hair actually broke off. Casey took the time to really shape my hair into a really ice short fro/bob. She's introduced me to great products, and is always letting me try new curly lines to style me after my cut. I couldn't have been more lucky to go to curly stylist for the first time, and have it turn out so good! Hair is one thing I don't need to be stressed out about, and since going to Casey for my cuts - I never need to be!

She will be booked for months in advance, but she is totally worth it. She cuts my 3C curls dry, sets themm with curly pudding, dries them and re-shapes them. I can't say enough about the time she takes on my, and how great I feel afterwards. Best stylist ever!!!

When I first met Eileen I thought, "uh oh, this woman has straight, cropped hair. Will she 'really' get my curly hair?".... My concern was completely unwarranted. Eileen gets curls. She understand that the curls on my nape aren't as strong or springy as the curls on the top of my head. Yet, the styles she gives me are mullet proof. She also has a fabulous eye for how colour can bring out my curls. She's given me the best highlights I've ever received. People stop me on the street to ask where I get my hair done. Eileen deserves to win this competition for making me look so hot. Thanks Eileen.

I echo everything good mentioned here about Eileen! She is a rockstar! Every time I visit, I get the best haircut ever. Before I came to Beehive Salon, every stylist treated my hair as if it were straight. I was nervous going to salons and mad when I left. Every cut Eileen gives me leaves me feeling great! I love what an artist she is. Very detailed and knows what she's doing! Always great about asking me exactly what I want, explaining the "curly process" and products, and just being friendly! I will not go to anyone else! Great service! Great price!

I'd always thought that curly-hair specialists were all hype -- especially considering the $100-plus haircuts many of my kinky-haired friends touted. Eileen, though, proved me totally wrong, and for way less than I thought it would cost. Gal's a curly-hair ninja. She also took plenty of time to go over products with me -- everything from shampoos to serums to diffusers -- and I finally feel like I have a hairdo and the know-how to keep my head from looking like a nasty mop.

Eileen is the greatest! I used to go to Devachan (so expensive, and they would always scold me), but have been going to Beehive for the past two years after reading raves for their curly haircuts. Eileen really listens to what you're looking for and has helpful advice. My hair can be difficult to manage, but it always looks fabulous after a cut from Eileen. She also happens to be the sweetest person and just got promoted after 3 years at Beehive--still a serious bargain!

Hello, Fellow Curly Girls. I, too, had gone to Jeff for several cuts as Louie had taken a hiatus from Beehive. Jeff is wonderful. I agree with you all. As you've seen from previous reviews, he has gone elsewhere and I've found that Louie is back. Since being back, he is totally simpatico with the Curly Girl. I had some seriously damaged ends (I keep using Rusk AntiCurl. I Have to stop, I know... sometimes the curl gets too HUGE to manage...) and he cut almost all of it out giving me a length that grazes my shoulders and looks great. The only frustration I have is that he can get it to look silky and soft with healthy, curly bounce using Deva products, which I can't seem to do at home. But he did diffuse it and I think heat works well with Deva. Anyhow, if you want to try Beehive, ask for Louie. He listens, he won't overcut, he will give you guidance on your hair type and he's a hoot to boot!

We totally recommend him. Self Salon is at www.selfsalonbrooklyn, 718.599.1449(it looks like Jeff's bio isn't up yet, but he's definitely there).

I had my first cut with Jeff today, and he was phenomenal. He took the time to ask me what I want and need for my hair. I needed something light and fairly easy to keep up with, which is quite a demand for my 3c curls. He took off exactly the right amount of length and added layers that are in one word, perfection. I will definitely be going back to Jeff for my next curly cut!

I had my first cut with Jeff yesterday, and all I can say is he's awesome. I have very tight curls- 3C/4A. You know, the type of hair that manages me more than I manage it. I've had more than my share of bad cuts and was more than nervous when I walked into the salon. Jeff made me feel really calm and spent time asking me what I wanted. I loved that he was cautious with the cutting and explained to me everything he was doing. All I wanted was the ends cleaned up and some shape added. Jeff delivered and then some. I kept the length and walked out with beautiful layers I didn't think would ever work. After going to Devechan/Mario Diab for the past 6 years and Ouidad for 4 years before that, I'm so glad I found Jeff. The salon is a bit out of the way for me, but Jeff really understands curly hair and has been practicing the Devechan method for about 4 yrs now. The price was great, too. $78 including tax. Compared to other curly salons, it's a bargain. I can't recommend Jeff enough.

I am a type 3c/4a I would say. I have gone to this salon twice once in Nov.2007 Casey was my stylist then. I LOVE her, I told her what color I wanted and showed her a picture and she got it right on the head. I also received a cut and love that too. Casey yes Great!! I want back Sept.2008, and Jeff give me a cut I LOVE him NOW too. I see some of the reviews on this site about not like the hair cuts they have received and I am sorry to hear that....BUT I most said I don't have a bad thing to say about this salon or stylist. I talk to the stylist about my want and dislikes when it comes to my hair. And what my idea was for my new hair cut. We even want over the hair product I use on the daily bases to help my curls stay healthy. I think the more you talk to your stylist and clearly communicate your vision or look.. the better off you will be. I am going back in oct. 2008 with stylist Jeff.. for a new color and I can't want. Every time time I leave the salon my hair is soft as cotton, great definition to my curls and a hair cut I Love!! -Angelina, BK, NYC

I'm feeling a little burned right now. I'm new to the city and needed to get my hair cut, so I was excited by the prospect of finding a good stylist in NYC. I researched and followed the recommendations on this site, but the stylists in the other reviews either didn't work there anymore, or only worked when I work. The receptionist said that Jeff is really good with curly hair, so I went with it. I had a clear idea of what I wanted--I even brought in a picture of a woman with graduated layers and bangs. Jeff cut my hair dry, which is nice, but he cut pretty much only two layers: short ones and long ones. I was confused as he was cutting my hair because he cut the ends of the curls blunt instead of angled. He spent almost two hours cutting my hair and, by the end, I wasn't very happy, but I just wanted to leave. This is seriously one of the worst haircuts I've had in a while and it was $65 plus tip. When I got home, I was embarrassed with my hair, so I blended the layers. It looks better, but I had to cut a lot off to blend into the really short layers. Now I've lost a lot of length and pretty much have a bowl cut.

I went to Beehive Salon looking for someone to even out my 4A curls, which I'd let grow under braids for about four years. Laura washed my hair with Devacare's No-Poo and conditioned it with One Condition, and detangled with KMS silk sheen Almond Basil leave-in conditioner, which is the first leave in conditioner that has deknotted my hair. She then took off all my dry ends and left me with some volume at the top. My hair now visibly curls up and I can now wear it in styles that aren't a ponytail!

Erin is also trained in curly hair and she took the time to listen to what I wanted and proceeded to cut my hair dry (yay!). She checked in with me while cutting and gave me green tea and magazines. Then they washed my hair with No-Poo and One C, and after being under the dryer for a minute, proceeded to style and refine my hair with Set It Free, B'Leave In and Angell. They're close, convenient and affordable! My cut was $50! And I'm definitely going back :D Their site is www.thebeehivesalon.com
