Stylist: Cable

I have had my hair cut by Cable twice now, and my hair buddy once (we always recommend stylists to each other.) After her hair cut she texted me and said, "perfect hair cut!" Cable is a no-nonsense stylist. At our first consult I told him generally what I wanted (shorter in front but not bangs), and we talked about dandruff, styling products, not using shampoo. He didn't BS about trying to sell me anything, he just told me exactly what he thought would work in my hair-- and he was completely right! I had always used Be Curly because no one had ever bothered to tell me about the other lines. After the shampoo he finished the hair cut really quickly. This is usually something I would be concerned about. But it was PERFECT. One side of my hair has a crazy huge wavy shaped bit that tends to stick out more than the other side, and he had shaped it away. I get a ton of compliments. Cable is not a chatty guy, I think of him as a hair scientist. He will give you an awesome hair cut and excellent product advice.

Stylist: Cable

Cable is still learning and will admit so, which is awesome. He'll do exactly what I tell him to, and will try any technique I throw his way. He's happy to cut hair either wet or dry, at your request. I always get my hair cut dry. I have to say, after having let Cable trim and re-shape my growing-out pixie about 6-8 times now, I can't think of a single thing I would complain about. In fact, I even wrote a yelp review about him. Dosha, however... going to Dosha sucks. The people are snotty, the parking on Hawthorne is a nightmare, they only use Aveda products (unless you bring your own for Cable to use, which he's happy to do) and some people get nasty headaches from Aveda fragranced stuff, and just overall, it's a hoity-toity unpleasant experience. But dang, I've dealt with a lot worse for a haircut. I believe Cable charges around $35 for a cut and curly style. I find that to be extremely reasonable; I've paid 4x that for good haircuts before. So, in brief: Cable gives an excellent haircut, and his eagerness to discuss and learn more about curly haircare makes it worth it to deal with the experience of Dosha on Hawthorne. I have high hopes that he'll move on someday (or even open his own salon, perhaps), but until then... Dosha it is. Sigh.

Stylist: Delva

Delva is one of the greatest stylists to see if you have any type of curly hair. She gives an amazing cut, great advice, and has lots of curly clients. She also teaches seminars on how to do the perfect curly cut! She's the only person that has ever been able to style my hair in the salon. I'll miss going to her now that I moved to FL.

Stylist: Delva

I have been going to Delva for a couple of years now, I was referred to her by this site and I have to tell you she is worth every penny of the $80 you pay for a hair cut. I receive compliments on my curls several times daily and I owe it all to her! My hair is long and there is lots of it and she knows just what to do to make it perfect. If you are like me and have had one to many haircuts from hell, buck up and pay the $80 I promise you wont regret it.
