After 40 years of battling my curls and having every hairdresser pressure and promise to straighten my hair for good, I found Joni. She has curly hair and she gets it. Joni not only took the time to show me how to style my curls, she also reviewed the products I was using. I have suffered through many hack jobs, but Joni knows how to cut curls. I found her two years ago, and on every visit Joni and her service have been consistent. With so many curly heads in south Florida, Joni should teach a class on how to style curly hair.

If you have curly, twirly, frizzy or freaked-out-by-Florida hair, Joni's got your back. She's got your head, your hair, she GETS it. I'm 63, she was the first competent hairdresser ever to teach me how to manage my wild red mess, what products to use to get my hair to clump into loose curls instead of spazz and fritz. The first thing you notice about Joni is that she has curly hair herself, and it looks casual and GOOD. This is clearly a girl who has come to terms with her condition. Next you notice how friendly and reassuring she is, non-critical, helpful... and blunt. She tells the truth. The truth will set you free.. She takes her time, much more time than you've ever gotten from a hairdresser. Her haircuts are magic. She teaches you what to do. Her prices are reasonable. She could charge more and all her clients would hang in there. But she charges fair, bc she's all about making life fun for her "curlies." Sadly for us, Joni is leaving south Florida. Joni, stay in touch. We'll come. Watch for Joni's book and product line. She's a budding star.

So first off this is Joni:) I was "required" to leave a rating, so 5 shears it is. I want to acknowledge this very poor review. It came as a shock to me to read such a hateful review. It seemed more of a personal attack and less of a review on the quality of my work. I searched though every new curly client I had prior to June 15th and I didn't have one that hasn't been a repeat client since. I went as far back as early May and nothing. It didn't take me long before I remembered running into a curly client of mine( the same time frame) in a professional beauty supply house. She is not licensed to be in this place and I recalled her telling me that a hair stylist friend of hers that moved had given her a member card and that she went in whenever she needed professional products at our cost. I quickly said hello and asked her where she had been, she told me my prices were too high, that she couldn't afford to get her hair done by me. I reminded her that her bill was higher last time because I did partial highlights, a base color, and a haircut, (on top of that I had given her a break in the cost by $20 bucks or so, we are a downtown salon and our pricing is competitive and fair for the area. Not to mention we have a menu as to not leave people wondering.) When it was time to check out at the supply house an employee asked her for proof that she was a stylist, she had none. The manager and the employee left both myself and her at the counter and she confronted me, she accused me of telling on her. I told her that perhaps they over heard me asking a "client" where she had been and why I hadn't seen her in my chair. She was very angry. I checked out and left. I was reminded at work that this client was the same women that cussed out my receptionist because the salon was out of a curl gel she needed, (one that cannot be bought in the supply house she can get into). She had been a very angry client in the salon dropping the f-bomb in front of children over hair gel. She never once told me she was unhappy with her hair. I pride myself in the time I take with every curly girl, I'm passionate about teaching clients on how to manage their curl, and I'm always honest, patient with people who have had so many bad experiences, and thoughtful about how many of us curlies feel about our hair. I continue to work with clients who still struggle to manage their hair and I tell them that they can email or call me about questions. I try to be the stylist I never had. It's very hurtful to see a review like this especially when it implies that my co-workers "feel the same". This is intended to cause trouble, none of my curlies have complained to my business partners and they have no idea why someone would write such a claim. To further my belief that I have the correct person making false claims, this client surfs... thank you "surfergirl" for showing me that I'm not just dealing with the public in a very honest and fair way but people who will try to harm reputations for the sake of revenge that is undeserving. Karma will take care of this, thank you to all of my loyal curlies. I'm grateful to the wonderful clients I have and the new ones I get daily from this genius website. Thank you Naturallycurly you are doing an amazing service to us all.

She is a extremely full of herself and isn't really any better than anyone I've been to before, definately NOT worth her prices. While I'll give her credit on being able to cut curly hair, if you go to anyone who has curly hair they are going to know how to cut it anyway. For the torture of dealing with her attitude and rudeness, I'll say no thank you! Didn't surprise me to learn that others at that salon feel the same way about her!

OMG! Joni has curly hair just like mine! I finally found a stylist who understands my wild mess of unruly locks that do exactly what they want, curling differently everyday! Joni isn't like any other haircutter who says they can cut curly hair (they can't), she's an artist who can sculpt and tame my knappy head! Joni is the BEST of the best I've seen in my 50 years. I spend half the year working in New York, but I'll fly home just so she can cut my hair! Thank you Joni! XO

I have been going to Joni for so many years I can't remember just how many. I have followed her through 3 salons and have and would reccomend her to anyone. I really did not know how to handle my hair and I had several terrible experiences before I found Joni. She taught me how to handle my curls and tricks for wearing it in different ways. She taught me the right products to use and it has made a huge difference. I always leave the salon with a smile on my face because Joni has a great sense of humor and always makes me laugh. I used to wear my hair in a bun or blowdryed straight, more often than not pulled back. It seems to be the typical curly girl thing to do. Joni can help you! Go see her.

I would highly recommend her to anyone who has been challenged with finding the right hairdresser that has a good grasp of dealing with curly hair. Joni is awesome! The person who said that she will give you a curly hair education is right! She gave me an amazing haircut and taught me how to style it myself. She explained everything very clearly, took a great deal of time with me making sure that I got the style that I wanted. The product and techniques she used on my hair are working so well for me after the fact (I hate when my hair looks amazing after going to a salon and crappy when I try to replicate it myself). I now have va- va- volume in my hair, and almost no frizz, and that is no easy task to accomplish. This was the most expensive haircut that i ever treated myself to, but it was absolutely worth every cent. The salon was a great experience and Joni spent like an hour and forty-five minutes with me. The only thing that I regret is that I do not live in Florida, so I can only see Joni on my vacations!

I moved down to West Palm Beach 10 months ago and have been hestitant to find a local haircutter because I loved my guy in Arlington, Virginia so much. Ultimately I caved though and I'm glad I did. (10 months without a haircut is never a good idea) ;) I arrived a bit early to their beautiful loft space. As I waited, I was offered everything from coffee to wine. Nice space, super service. Now about my cut and color-- I have naturally curly hair and need someone who understands my crazy locks. Joni took some time to examine the mess on my head. We talked about my product use and my hair routine. Ready, set, go! She went for my color first which was an easy and quick process, thanks to her expertise and down-to-earth personality. As she cut my hair, we chatted about everything under the sun. It was nice to have someone working with my hair and not sit there thinking "oh goodness, this is a wreck." As she blew my hair and used products, I was in the middle of a curly hair class. I swear I learned more about my hair in 2 hours than I've ever known in my 27 years of life. And this wasn't education in the annoying way. This was a genious sharing their knowledge. If you have curly hair, PLEASE let Joni help you. She's an absolute gem of a person and amazing at what she does. PS-- I noticed that I broke up a number of my curls this week because I've been playing with my hair so much! It just feels and looks so nice and healthy. Eventually I'll get used to looking this good... thanks to Joni! :)

I have been searching for years for a stylist that understands the mechanics of curly hair. Joni Sansone is that stylist. She understands how to cut, color and style curly hair as she herself has beautiful curls. She was very informative and walked me through the process of how to properly care for my locks. I would highly recommend her. On a side note, when my friends saw my hair that evening after my visit with Joni, they could not believe how beautiful my curls were and raved about the color. Joni, you ROCK!!!!

Joni is simply amazing!!!! After 7 years of trying to find someone to cut and style my daughter's hair I finally found her at Lush!!! Not only did she give her an amazing cut she taught her how to take care of her curls, information that will last a lifetime. It wasn't just a hair cut, it was an experience. My daughter felt very comfortable and enjoyed her hair cut for the first time in her life. Joni is so nice and I really felt like she cared about my daughter and educating her on her curls!!! Joni really knows how to cut curly/wavy hair! Being a curly girl herself, she understands the frustrations of finding a stylist who doesn't cut your hair like it's straight. Any client that's sat in Joni Sansone's chair, will tell you how she's changed their life, and as repetative as it may sound, it's true. I have many friends that have naturally curly hair who decide they rather fry their hair with a flat iron every morning just because they don't know how to tame it. Joni was the first stylist who taught me how to take care of my curls. Before I came to her I had relaxed my hair for decades and it was extremely damaged. Joni helped me learn how to care for my natural curls, and now I love wearing my hair curly! I also sent my best friend to see Joni and she loved her hair after Joni gave her a great cut! Although I have since moved from the area, whenever I go back to visit I will be making an appointment to see Joni.
