Big, bright and beautiful earrings
An easy and quick way to dress up your curls is to throw on some big colorful earrings and earrings could not be easier to make.
What you need:
Decorative component
You can find decorative jewelry components in the jewelry section of your local craft store.
Cost: Gold and Blue = $1.50 each. Red = $.75 each
The bigger the better with curly hair. We need those earrings to stand out among all our curls. The craft store I went to had a wide variety of styles and shapes! Don’t be afraid to try something new this holiday. Go big, go bold, go beautiful!
Earring wires:
Cost: $.74 for a pack of 8
Needle-nose pliers: (I borrowed my husband’s but you can pick these up at the craft store as well. )
Cost: $7.00 to $8.00
How to create your big, beautiful and bright earrings
Take your pliers and pry open the small hook/loop on the earning wire. Pry it open just enough to slip your decorative earring component through. Once your decorative earning component is on the wire, take the pliers and gently close the loop to ensure the decorative part doesn’t slip off. Viola! You have some big beautiful and bold earrings to wear to you next holiday event. These are sure to attract some attention.
Total Cost: $6. A steal compared to Express or Target prices of $15 and up!
Unique Hair Clips
Hair clips are a great way to give your curls a new look. They can also easily take your hair from drab to fab. Hair clips might be the easiest to make, which is shocking because stores charge anywhere from $4 to $15 each for similar clips.
What you need:
Hair barrettes (I used long flat alligator clips)
Cost: $1 for 8 pieces
Decorative components: I used a 6 pack of vintage flowers (I found these in the scrapbooking section! Don’t just stay in the jewelry section of your craft store—explore the store, as you can create hair clips from just about anything!)
Cost = $3
I also purchased a 50 pack of white and blue snowflakes from the holiday scrapbook section. These are great for a little holiday sparkle. Going to a holiday party and want just a hint of sparkle? These snowflake hair clips are the perfect choice. They say “holiday” without saying “tacky”! They are also great for your kid’s curls. Taking some holiday pictures and need a simple way to pull back her hair— look no further! These snowflake clips are an easy and quick way to give anyone a holiday look.

I purchased a second set of snowflakes from the holiday scrapbook section. These have more detail and come in a variety of designs. These are perfect for a holiday date night or your holiday party.

I purchased E-6000 a Fabric, wood, metal, glass and ceramic glue sold in the jewelry section.

How to create your easy and stylish hair clips
Place a generous amount of glue on the back center of your decorative accessory. Push and hold again the plain metal clip or barrette. Let dry overnight. The next day you will have unique and customized hair clips that will add some style to any look.
Total Cost: $9. Again, as steal compared to stores like Express or Target where prices range from $4 to $10 for ONE clip!
Headbands
Headbands are a fun and trendy way to add color and style to your curls. Making them is very simple and allows you to customize the placement of the decorative component.
What you need:
Plain headbands. Choose whichever colors you like best or match it to a base color in your decorative component.

How to create your customized headband
First, put the headband on. While looking in the mirror place the decorative component on the headband. Move it around until you find the perfect place for you and your curls. The majority of people like to place things on the top and to the side slightly.
Place a dab of glue on the back of your decorative component in line—matching where the headband base will touch. Push down your decorative component and hold, let dry overnight. The next day you will have the hottest hair accessory of the season, designed by YOU!

With cooler temperatures come hats. Hats can be boring but not if you accessorize them yourself! With these simple steps you can have a hat that will turn heads.

Plain hat

I love these vintage hair clips and the snowflake ones are so pretty on an updo. Why pay a lot of money for the shop made versions when you can make your own for a fraction of the cost!
