Last night I was more than happy to attend the Ron King Grand Opening party and runway show in Austin, TX. Ron has been working on opening his new salon in The Four Seasons, and now that the hard part is over, he could finally celebrate with a big bash and runway show by designer Thuy. After attending Austin's fashion week this year, I could never expect that an event like this could be pulled off in this city, and he did it all on his own, with years of experience at New York Fashion Week.

The atmosphere of the party was incredible—everyone excited to see one another and take part in an-all-too rare Austin event. More than once there were whispers of how you couldn't throw a party and runway show of this magnitude in New York during fashion week, and it's true—this was definitely a one-of-a-kind soirée thrown by a one-of-a-kind man.
The gorgeous Thuy models.
It was a great feeling to know that we were there for a reason besides our own vanity, and that was to give back to kids in need. The man of the hour awarded one lucky cosmetology student, Briana Flores, with a $25,000 scholarship. We all had warm fuzzies at that point, if we hadn't already had them from the mini Moet champagnes being passed around.
The talented designer, Thuy.
The Thuy show was unbelievable, for lack of a better word. The petit designer impressed the crowd with girly prints and frocks, which have already made it into my dreams of next spring's wardrobe.
Such an amazing night, and hope to see more events like this in a city that already has the reputation of bringing major film makers and music groups. And hopefully Austin Fashion Week members took note!
