apply sunscreen

Don’t forget the sunscreen if you go outside!

Remove surface scars, fine lines and wrinkles with laser treatments. This is a more aggressive way of helping to smooth and rejuvenate skin texture and tone. You will experience redness and swelling after a treatment, so plan in advance to get the best results. Home care is critical to help the skin heal smoothly. This is definitely a procedure performed months ahead of time. I love the Pixel laser treatments because you can do them as close as a month apart without much downtime.

Injectable facial fillers are another way to look younger instantly as they fill in the deep lines around the mouth area and can help pump up vertical lips lines. Do this treatment at least one to two weeks before a special event as you may have some bruising around the injection site. Fillers normally last about a year and my favorite is Juvederm from Allergan. Botox is another favorite to keep the lines between the brows and on the forehead in a relaxed state, thus preventing deep wrinkles. Botox lasts about 3-4 months.

Use alpha or beta hydroxy acids (AHAs”> and retinols to help reverse the aging process. These products cause the skin to peel, which helps to remove damaged skin cells and creates a smoother skin texture over time. They also will make you sun-sensitive and should be used only with sunscreens. Nighttime is the best time to use this type of product and combine it with a skin hydrating/ moisturizing treatment to prevent excess irritation. This point is crucial because not all products are going to work for your skin type. Read the labels and directions before using them to avoid an allergic reaction. Example: when using retinol products, you do not wear them outside as they make you sun sensitive, damaging your skin. But wear a retinol product several times a week to bed, and you will see smoother and younger-looking skin.

Stay out of the SUN!!! Your skin ages dramatically with sun exposure. Yes, you do need sunshine to stay healthy but watch the number of hours you go outside and wear a sunscreen. Remember that age spots are really sun damaged skin caused by tanning.
