This time of year, we are completely overwhelmed with print, online, and media ads touting different celebrity fragrances, and a few actual clothing lines.

Don’t get me wrong—I have fallen in love with more than a few pairs of Miss Simpson’s shoes and handbags, but lately, I’m sensing that celebrity fashion lines are the new celebrity fragrance. How much is too much?

Over the past couple of weeks I have heard two separate stories about celebrities and their fashion lines. First off, Lindsay Lohan has reportedly stated that she will expand her 6126 fashion brand to include shoes. Currently, the celebrity is focused on leggings, and let’s be honest, leggings are not pants no matter how often she wears them as such. Fine and dandy, Lohan needs something to keep her busy now that she’s out of rehab (again”>, and this might actually keep her occupied.

Next up, Hillary Swank. “Women’s Wear Daily” reported that the brilliant actress will be throwing in with DMA (Designers Management Agency”> to start her first clothing line. First, she thought of designing inspirational t-shirts, but then it quickly became an entire line dedicated to a more outdoorsy, sporty approach. Where do I start? She was smart to scrap the t-shirt idea, but I will be interested to see the prices on this “outdoor fashion line.”

Let’s not forget that Swank is hosting the new CW fashion/reality/game show (as yet unnamed”>, and it can only be a matter of time before her fashion line fizzles.

I will, however, say that there are a few celebrity lines that I actually like. As mentioned before, Jessica Simpson can make a cute little shoe at a modest price range, and who doesn’t like Justin Timberlake’s jeans and leather-focused line? For the future Swanks of fashion, stick to what you know, kicking butt at the Academy Awards.
