Does Moisturizer Burn Your Eyes?

If you have particularly sensitive skin, and moisturizers burn your eyes (even organic moisturizers”>, consider a hydration gel instead of lotion. Hydration gels can provide the same benefits without the negative effects of burning, breakouts and the spread of acne. Healthy skin tips for smooth and soft skin:

Dry-Normal Skin: Choose creams instead of liquid moisturizers; make sure the product indicates it’s for use for dry skin or you’ll end up disappointed because you will need to apply it several times during the day.

Use a night cream as this will give your skin the needed emollients it is missing when you have dry skin. Look for ingredients with natural oils, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, lipids and peptides. Use an eye cream day and night.

Normal–Oily Skin: Needs a lightweight cream or liquid. Look for oil-free and non-comedogenic to prevent pimples. If you have an oily T-zone, try to avoid moisturizing the oily areas. It’s okay not to moisturize oily areas if your skin isn’t dry or irritated. If oily areas are dry, use a hyaluronic acid serum to soothe without causing breakouts. Moisturize morning and night as needed, and also you might want to add in an eye cream into your morning and night routine.

Oily/Acne Skin: Yes, even though you are oily, you need hydration. Hyaluronic acid serums are perfect for your skin type. It is a hydrator, which increases the water content in your skin without adding ingredients that can cause breakouts. Apply it before acne medication to cushion the irritating effects of some acne products.

Remember to adjust moisturizers to your weather. Going on a ski trip? You’ll need a more soothing moisturizer. Check for ones with aloe and calming ingredients. Going to the beach? Get lighter-weight liquid, fluids, oil-free and non-comedogenic versions.
