Why you should use a microfiber hair towel for your waves and curls.

Over the past week and a half I have been testing 4 different microfiber towels to see which ones do exactly what they say they will, or at least work best on my hair.

With all towels that you use, you want to put product in your hair fresh out of the shower and then use the towels to reduce frizz, get out extra water and define your curl. The key to all towels is flip your head over and scrunch up.

I noticed you didn’t review the curlease towel.. any thoughts on that brand?

  2. plunkybug Says:

How long did you scrunch with the towels?

  3. jaime-allison Says:

Yeah, how long did you crunch for?

curlywurlygurly: I havent’ actually used the Curlease towel before so I couldn’t say but here’s the link to the reviews of that product if you haven’t read them already: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlproducts/view/2973/curlease-curlease-towel
They could probably tell you better than me!!
plunkybug & jaime-allison: When I get out of the shower I use half of the towel to do a scrunch without the product just to get most of the water out of my hair. After that I put product in and scrunch again. I just do it until my hair is only damp. I don’t think I have the patience (or towel room) to COMPLETELY dry my hair with just the towels!

On the Mimi’s Diva – did you use the Turban or the Towel? Because the picture is of the turban, but it sounds like you described a towel.

Gina-I did actually use the towel. Good eye :)

What do you think about plopping (aka plunking) for wavy haired ladies? Is it necessary? Does it work for wavy hair?

    I’m a type 2b wavy lady.

Harplady, I’m a wavy (2b), and I first use a microfiber (usually the devacurl or this swimmer’s towel I picked up at TJ Maxx) to get out most of the sop. Then I use a floursack towel (thin, cotton towel you can find in the kitchen section) to plop my hair for about 10-15 minutes to get great waves/curls. If I plop for any longer, or with a more absorbent towel, my hair frizzes too much. Plus, those floursack towels are cheap! :) Hope that helps.

Can anyone tell me why I don’t get clumps whenever I use a 100% microfiber towel. Is it because I don’t use product, or what? My waves usually turn out very stringy sometimes, and I wanted thicker waves. Thanks!
