With the holidays behind us and the festivities finished, winter, with its dark and dreary days, seems to drag on and on….Before spring breaks through the blanket of snow, our senses will be awakened with the “Chocolate Frenzy” known as…Valentine’s Day!! At this time of the year, your skin is suffering from the cold dry air, the overindulgence of food and drink during the holidays and the lack of Vitamin D from being out in the sunshine. We are tired, and our skin is tired!

Who doesn’t love chocolate?

At Christine Valmy, we have some quick recipes that will perk up your skin and make you look good and feel better! As a rule, before using a mask, I recommend an exfoliating treatment—this way your skin will be ready to absorb ingredients and the results will be better. A good exfoliation recipe is to use sour cream mixed with corn meal. Next, follow with my favorite Chocolate Mask that is great for the skin! Not only does it help nourish and hydrate, but it is loaded with antioxidants to really make the skin look and feel great! This mask can be used all over the body and it becomes a yummy Valentine’s treat!

This homemade chocolate facial mask is specially-formulated for dry, dehydrated skin.

Ingredients:

1 tbsp. of cacao powder

1 tbsp. of sour cream

½ tsp. of honey

¼ banana

1 tsp. of olive oil

Cut the banana in slices. Put banana slices, cacao powder and sour cream in the mixer. Mix. Add honey and olive oil. Stir to obtain a homogenized mixture. Apply on the entire face, except eyes, with brush. Leave for 20 minutes and remove with cotton pads and water.

With the cold weather, the skin is dehydrated in surface and needs deep hydration. The cacao powder will increases the blood circulation by acting as a vasoconstrictor. Lactic acid from sour cream increases the product penetration for maximum results, while honey, banana & olive oil soothe and calm skin. So enjoy, indulge and have a great Valentine’s Day!!

Note: Caution with all natural ingredient masks; do not use if you are allergic to the specific foods noted.
