NaturallyCurly editors put the brushed up brow trend to the test in our everyday looks and our most maximalist editors thought even this was risky. Here’s what happened in our latest from the “We Tried It” series.

Devri (@devrivelazquez“>

My typical everyday makeup look

I typically follow a 5:2 “skin diet” in which I go 5 days with light to medium coverage makeup throughout the week and two days without.

What made me interested in trying this trend

I started trying it about a month ago when I noticed it giving me a more natural, fuller look.

How brushing up my brows made me feel overall

I feel closer to my childhood brow #goals (I was obsessed with brows since I first picked up a magazine as a young girl”>.

The trend I want to try next

I am trying to declutter my wardrobe and go for a more classic, timeless look instead of my usual over-the-top, super-extra maximalist pieces. It’s tough letting go of the colors and patterns, though.

Will I be adopting this trend into my regular beauty routine?

Brushed up brows won my heart.

Alexandra (@queensconquer“>

My typical everyday makeup look

My every look is a natural bronzed look which consists of using MAC concealer &  foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills BrowDuo Powder, MAC Global Glow Bronzer and Maybelline Colossal mascara.

What made me interested in trying this trend

Usually, my brows are filled in and defined, but this has been a hot topic lately and who doesn’t love full natural looking brows? Zendaya definitely inspired me to embrace the brows and try this trend!

How brushing up my brows made me feel overall

I didn’t love it, but I did appreciate how natural it looked.

The trend I want to try next

I’m loving the bold and colorful sunglasses — I must grab a pair before summer ends!

Will I be adopting this trend into my regular beauty routine?

I would be open to trying it again, but for now, I’ll stick with what I know.

Cara (@cuur“>

My typical everyday makeup look

Everyday face for me is very natural—freckles, mascara and maybe a little eyeliner, often a bright or bold lipstick color.

What made me interested in trying this trend

I used to brush my eyebrows backwards to look in the mirror and see how funny I looked. Brushed up eyebrows make me look wild and forest-y.

How brushing up my brows made me feel overall

I think I pull it off pretty well. It’s so avant garde which I’m down with. But I have bangs right now so they also modestly hide my brows.

The trend I want to try next

Anything that is bold but minimal. I like having neutral everything with one loud something. But maximalism clothes.

Will I be adopting this trend into my regular beauty routine?

Yeah, I would craze out my eyebrows if it went with my look for the day. I went home after this and added some color to my brushed up brows for my night look.

Leslie (@lesliellozano“>

My typical everyday makeup look

I keep my makeup look pretty natural with just a BB cream and blush, but I love a good bold lip or cat eye.

What made me interested in trying this trend

I love the look of brushed up brows. It’s a very natural and effortless look. I’ve tried the brush up brow trend before but my brows just didn’t stay brushed up. I was excited to figure out what product worked best for my brows.

How brushing up my brows made me feel overall

I honestly felt a little silly. I have naturally big brows so I felt I bordered an Oscar the grouch look but it was fun to try these looks with my coworkers.

The trend I want to try next

I’d really like to try a geometric eyelid or liner look and the glossy eyelid this summer!

Will I be adopting this trend into my regular beauty routine?

I’m definitely going to keep trying to master this look… maybe I’ll just trim my brows a bit before brushing them up again.

Lauren (@whatsuplauren_“>

My typical everyday makeup look

My typical look is very natural with not too much going on, besides a lippie by NYX if I’m really trying to be extra. haha.  I normally rock a Maybelline BB cream with banana powder over the top for matte look, and then I fill in my brows with the Lancome Les Sourcils Definis Eyebrow Pencil. That’s it! :”>

What made me interested in trying this trend

One of my favorite beauty bloggers Sonjdra Deluxe lives by the Brushed Brow trend, and I absolutely love it on her! I’ve been wanting to be a bit more daring with my look also, so I figured this would be the perfect time to break a little out of the box.

How brushing up my brows made me feel overall

I loved it. Yes, It made me feel like slightly like “5th grade Lauren pre-eyebrow waxing” — but I was really digging it! It made me fall in love with eyebrows even more, and it sparked a movement within myself to keep appreciating my natural features.

The trend I want to try next

@amrezy, another makeup artist and beauty blogger, recently created a unicorn style makeup look! I really want to try this one out, as it way out of my comfort zone. Plus, who doesn’t like pastel colors?

Will I be adopting this trend into my regular beauty routine?

Most Likely. I haven’t gotten my eyebrows threaded in about 6 months or so, so now I have a reason to continue on in my eyebrow growth journey.

Cristina (@cristinacleveland“>

How would you describe your typical everyday makeup look?

I like to keep it pretty natural with one standout feature, like a natural face with lavender eyeliner, or a bold lip stain. Lately I’ve been loving red eyeshadows and maroon mascara – it’s not for everyone but I like to experiment.

What made you interested in trying the ‘brushed up brow’ trend?

Because Pinterest. I see these amazing photos of brows that look like feathers and women with lush, thick brows and I want to join in on the statement brows.

How did you feel today when you tried this ‘runway’ trend?

I loved the way they looked… but they only stayed “up” for about 15 seconds and then they would go back to normal. I tried brow gel, hair gel, and finally a pomade. The pomade gave me the most hold.

What other high fashion looks are you willing to try this summer?

I’ve been seeing a lot of glitter and star sequins, which I’m curious to try. It reminds me of junior high when I’d use a roller ball to apply glitter to my eyes, but maybe that means I’m too old to try it if I wore it the first time it was trending!

Would you rock this look again in your everyday style?

I wouldn’t put in the effort of applying 3 products to my brows and brushing them into oblivion, but if it was easier to achieve the look I’d definitely wear it again.
