Cristina Back to School Essentials

Cristina @cristinacleveland

When I was in school it definitely would have been Infusium23, hands down. That was my Holygrail for years and I used to drench my hair in it. Today I’d probably go with the Curly Hair Solutions H20 Water Bottle. I’ve now learned that most of the time I don’t need to wash my hair and start from scratch when I don’t like the way it’s curling. A quick refresh with some water will do the trick 9 times out of 10. It’s also very light and easy to carry, I always empty it and stick it in my bag when I travel.

In my backpack, I would bring my Taliah Waajid Protective Styles Intense Moisture Coconut & Bamboo Milk Strengthening Leave-In Conditioner. The product comes in a tall but handy nozzle spray bottle that makes it super easy to apply directly onto my roots for instant relief from an itchy or dry scalp.

April School Essentials

The Oyin Frank Juice would be something I’d carry around on a daily basis. It’s cruel and unusual punishment to make a child that sweated as much as I did have to go from PE to the next class without time for a shower, shirt change or no shirt change. Since my hair was relaxed at the time and always “exercised out” anyway, the least I could do would be to replenish a little of the moisture and add some smell-good factor to soften the hygiene blow. Oyin’s Frank Juice smells spectacular, feels wonderfully replenishing, and it definitely would have made the backpack cut and come out everyday for the thirty seconds I had to brush my hair during passing period.

When I was in school I usually had my hair relaxed, so if I were in school today I would carry the Curl Girl Unwine Thermal Protector & Detangling Mist in my backpack. It’s a 2-in-1 product I love because not only can it be used as a heat protectant, but it’s a great detangler that provides good slip and leaves my curls poppin’!

The Cantu Apple Cider Vinegar Root Relief + Peppermint Oil would definitely make it into my backpack for my treks across campus. It would have been the perfect scalp refresher, after running back and forth to meetings, without me having to wet my hair completely and ruin my style. Plus, it feels really good on your scalp!
