What are your favorite products?
Curly Penny: I don’t use any styling products. All I use is sulfate-free shampoo and silicone-free conditioner. Unlike most curlies, I am not a product junkie. I know, I’m a freak haha. I switch up my shampoo once in a while, but I always use my faithful Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner, my all-time favorite!
What ingredients does your hair love?
Curly Penny: My hair loves water and oils! My hair’s necessities are very simple.
What ingredients does your hair hate?
Curly Penny: My hair hates sulfates, silicones, and protein! Oh my goodness, even the smallest amount will make it freak out. My hair gets really hard with coconut oil and shea butter, which really sucks!
How do the seasons affect your regimen?
Curly Penny: My hair stays pretty much the same throughout the seasons, but when it rains my hair gets super poufy, but I don’t mind.
We adore your long, gorgeous curls and usually, the longer the hair, the longer the care. How do you cut down on spending hours on your hair?
Curly Penny: I simply don’t worry about it. I know this sounds horrible, but I haven’t cut my hair in three years and I only get a trim once or twice a year, but that’s what works for me. My hair has reached a point where it does completely fine on its own and doesn’t need anything, just gentle handling. I only do what is completely necessary, which is washing and conditioning.
