When I tell y’all Cantu held nothing back, they brought everything to Texture on the Runway! Fronted by The Maria Antoinette as their host for the night, Cantu took us all on a family trip featuring viral sensations and influencers as their models, along with creating a very fun and lively show while showing what their product line can do.

All fashion selections for the night were coordinated by stylist Harrison T. Crite and team. Harrison picked looks by independent designers and ready-to-wear brands, with an emphasis on selecting designs consumers can shop now. Designers worn included Chen Burkett NYKira NacoleMalcolm Diggs, Terell Shåw,and Midget Giraffe. With a huge focus on afrocentric textiles in green and orange hues to match the Cantu brand, Crite & his team created looks that were comfortable, kid friendly, and incredibly stylish for all members of the family. His biggest sentiment when selecting his looks for Texture on The Runway included his ode to utilize the TOTR “platform to give more opportunities to showcase their designs for NYFW.”

Opening the show, were the Syncopated Ladies with a high energy tap dance number that was just enough to get the crowd going, but also showed the dyanmic range of their talent. Famous for their youtube videos, the Syncopated Ladies did a rendition of “Formation by Beyonce” which catupulated them into the viral spotlight, and thus… Creator of the troupe Chloe, rocked a textured protective style in the form of a pompadour up top cascading downwards into a long braid, all styled by Lead stylist and Cantu Brand Ambassador The Maria Antoinette.

Next up, we had men’s viral sensation Team Twins! You may know them from their hit song “We Get Turnt Up”, and please believe they did just that. Dressed in the most dapper attire, Team Twins were the only male models on stage this year showcasing the diversity of the textured hair world. One twin rocked a lustrous fro with big curls, while the other sported sleek braids. Trust, the crowd was swooning over their runway appearance, and believe it or not, this was their first fashion show!

Lastly, stealing the spotlight and our hearts, the McClure Twins came out on stage rocking their little green and orange tutus and sporting the cutest bantu knot out & Fulani braids. Ava & Alexis then ended their presentation with a little side to side shimmy in collective twin fashion, amidst a cry of “Awwwws” from a very engaged crowd.

Cantu really did take us on a family trip, and set the bar high for the rest of the night. A closeout performance by the Syncopated ladies sealed the deal, and Cantu Beauty further proved that they are an OG in the product game and know how to slay on the runway.
