Some days, frizz gets the best of us, 4th day hair is no longer cooperating, or no matter what Holy Grail product we use, those curls just won't clump. It happens to the best of curlies.
Don't get frustrated with your hair or give in to hair envy. Instead, capitalize on another one of your gorgeous traits, like your gorgeous smile, high cheek bones, or glowing summer complexion.

Blue Winged Eyeliner
You won't look like Ke$ha if you keep blue liner clean and close to the lash line, says Mark ambassador Fiona Stiles. Copy actress Jaimie King's look and draw a thin stripe of liquid liner (like Sephora Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Fancy Blue) on the outer three quarters of the lash line and flick it upward at the corners. Don't go straight across the entire length of the eyes. "That makes them look droopy," says Stiles.
Juicy Pink Lips
If you want your lip gloss to sing like Beyoncé's, start by filling in lips with a pink or nude pencil (like L'Oréal Infallible Lipliner in Pink or Nude). This boosts the color of the gloss (like L'Oréal Colour Riche Le Gloss in Watermelon Crush) and keeps it from melting off lips as quickly. Just remember to pack a tube in your beach bag for touch-ups. The liner helps, but it won't work miracles.
Golden Eyes and Cheeks
A golden face can look gorgeous or garish, depending on a single detail: "Julianne Hough's strong brows anchor the entire look," says Stiles. After filling in brows with a pencil, tap bronze eye shadow onto the lash line and blend it with a softer gold shadow slightly past the crease (CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire has both shades). Swirl bronzer (like NYX Matte Bronzer) onto the apples of the cheeks and gold highlighter (like Mark Glowdacious Illuminating Powder) along the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and the cupid's bow. Finish with a sheer peach lip gloss (like Mark Hook Up Lip Gloss) to complete the look.
A perfect mix of pink and orange, coral flatters just about everyone. But make sure it stays on the brighter side with no trace of white (or it's hello, grandma chic). To keep it modern, pair a classic coral (like L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick in Volcanic) with fresh skin and—if you're hitting an evening party—a smudgy smoky eye like Freida Pinto's here.
Black and White Eyeliner
For summer, freshen up your basic black liner with a crisp streak of white directly above it. "It opens up the eyes and makes a bold statement," says makeup artist Melanie Inglessis, who layeredRevlon PhotoReady Kajal Intense Eye Liner + Brightener in Carbon Cleopatra and Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eye Liner in Black andWhite Mist on Olivia Wilde. Just keep the white stripe totally shimmer free, or you'll veer into ice-queen territory.
Still afraid of colored liner? Jessica Alba's pretty aqua liner should calm your fears. To keep it soft, trace a pencil (like Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Peacock or Revlon PhotoReady Intense Eye Liner in Emerald Empire) along your upper lash line and blend it slightly upward with your fingers. "That hint of color really makes your eyes stand out," says Inglessis. To keep the look feminine, load up on black mascara. After that, you're on your own, sister.
Matte Pink Lipstick
You can have bright lips in 90 percent humidity—just choose a matte, long-wearing formula. It's only glosses that move around, says Stiles, who patted Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Anime onto Lucy Hale's mouth with a lip brush (the more user-friendly Nars Velvet Lip Pencil in 413 Bleeker also doesn't budge). If you're really sweating it, lightly dust your lips with translucent powder (like Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder).
Berry lips are a huge trend for fall, but you can start wearing them as early as July. Steer clear of wine and plum shades and instead choose ones that are a little riper, like raspberry or strawberry. (Here Zoë Saldana wears Laura Mercier Stickgloss Lip Colour in Cranberry). A satin finish also helps summer-ize the shade, as does minimal makeup on the eyes and cheeks—mascara and a light coating of blush are all you need.
