I am so grateful to have found Rapunzel. I have curly hair, and I have only let Debbie cut my hair since finding her several years ago. Her studio is a little far for me, but the trip is well worth it. She is the most skilled-at-cutting-curly-hair hairdresser I have ever encountered, and I totally trust her to do a great job even if I don't always know what I want going in. She and Wendy are always very warm and welcoming, and I always have a great experience with them!

She is a Devachaun certified hairstylist so the haircut is done curl by curl, on dry hair, and with attention to your requests. I will continue to go back and spread the word...that there's no need to run to a insanely priced deva salon or someone in NYC. We are lucky to have her here in Rockland!

I got my hair dyed here and whatever belch they used killed my hair. I've bleached my hair before without that happening to me. My hair was completely fried. It felt like straw. I had to cut it off it was so bad. No amount of treatments was able to fix it.

At first I thought the appointment didn't go well. I mean, everyone was very nice and easy to talk to, and I got great tips which I incorporate now everyday, but my hair afterward wasn't what I expected. However, after I washed it the next day I loved the cut. I asked her for a cut that would give me volume and she did just that! I have more volume in the front now :) I think the issue was the Deva products. That's all they use there. I personally don't like them, and neither does my hair. When I went home and used my own products I got to see how nice my hair really is now :)

This was my first Deva/dry curly cut ever, and I am extremely pleased.
I was greeted by Wendy, who asked me if I would like some water, coffee or tea, while I waited for Debbie to finish up with another customer. She handed me some binders of hair styles to flip through while I waited, which was great. There were a lot of pics of curly cuts that I had previously seen, and was inspired by.
When my turn came, Debbie sat me down in her chair, and listened carefully to what I wanted. We discussed my hair, and then she started cutting. Once she was done carefully cutting my curls, Wendy washed and styled my hair. She even showed me how to place clips at the roots for volume (I had known of this trick, but never understood exactly how to do it until today).
Debbie and Wendy are very knowledgeable, talented, and friendly. The price is right, too: probably about 1/3 - 1/2 less than what you would pay at Devachan, with just as much skill.
I will be going back in a few months, most definitely!

Absolutely LIFE-CHANGING!
I've struggled with my fine, thin curly hair all of my life. Until now.
Debbie not only gave me a great haircut, she gave me a couple of EXTREMELY simple, inexpensive tips that have turned my hair from a frizzy mess to photo-ready springy curls with very little effort at all. Best of all, the techniques are cheap and easily replicated at home (I'm a wash-and-go kinda gal).
Worth EVERY PENNY.

I got the best haircut ever from Debbie. I just recently discovered I have wavy hair. And really had no clue what to do with it. I got it cut yesterday and Debbie and her assistant (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) showed me exactly how to take care of it. They were very patient and so willing to share information. It looks and feels the best it has ever felt. I'm also in the process of growing out my dye, and she didn't give me a hard time about the demarcation line. This really was one of my most pleasant salon experiences. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

For years i have been struggling with my hair. I hated hearing i love your hair. I hated it because it was always frizzy and not healthy looking. I went all over to ny and beyond looking for a haircut and one i could maintain at that. I went to Christo who was excellent but expensive and too far to travel every six weeks for color and style. I came upon Rapunzel though the reviews thru this. First off. Debbie is extremely warm and friendly. She works with you. I always hated my hair and i wanted straight hair and i had the keratin treatment. Since going to Debbie i love my hair. She has made my hair healthy. I love my curly hair. I also love her assistant Wendy. Wendy is more than a assistant. She is great. She helps me when i try to figure out colors for my hair, what style would look good at me. You can't beat Rapunzel. They are awesome. I am never leaving them.

I have to been to hairdressers all over the county to try and give me a great haircut since i have curly hair. I also went to Christo, Ouidad. I loved them but could not afford them. Since i live in Rockland County i decided to try Debbie who was recommended on this site. I went to Debbie. I absoulety love her. She cuts my hair dry, in layers and colors it the best ever. My daughter and I found Debbie through a neighbor. We've gone about a year now.
She has curly hair, Botticelli type, while I have wavy hair. We mainly went because of her hair. Debbie gave my daughter the most beautiful cut and directions about how to care for her hair. My daughter's locks look beautiful and are easier than ever before for my daughter to care for.
To my surprise, I discovered how easy it is to care for my hair with the dry cut and the products which enhance and support the waves. I love my hair now.
She is patient with young teens and very good at what she does with adults as well.
Her assistant, Wendy, who also cuts hair, and is great at setting and styling hair.
The two are a winning combination.
I'd recommend this studio to anyone.
By the way, the salon is clean and comfortable to be in.

I was tired of traveling into the city for haircuts and spending so much on the haircut and the travel expenses. I figured there had to be a decent stylist in NJ that knew what they were doing. I found MANY reviews for Debbie on here and decided to try her out. I am so glad I did. Not only am I so happy with how she cut and styled my hair I have been able to get the same great results every day on my own at home. She gave me a great cut for my friends wedding, it didn't cost me even half of what I use to pay in NYC and not even get these results. While I was there, there was even another woman trying her out thanks to previous reviews on this site. Both of us were thrilled and complementing each others hair. I have type 2B wavy hair and she had a type 3 tight curls and Debbie knew just how to cut and style both of us. Debbie has her own curly hair and even her curls looked great. The cut is done on dry hair first which after years of having bad haircuts I tend to like stylists who cut hair dry. I loved that Debbie chooses to cut this way as well. I definitely recommend Debbie to anyone in NJ looking for a curly hair stylist. She is a little over an hour away for me but worth the drive in my opinion.

I stumbled across this Salon while working at an event a few towns over from where Rapunzel Hair Studio is located. There were many women with GORGEOUS curly hair at this event (I almost found it peculiar). I decided to start asking these curly girls where they got their haircut, at the time I was fustrated with my curls and hadn't worn my hair curly in months! The response I got each time was... "Rapunzels by Debbie of course". I was sold! I immediately scheduled an appointment! Debbie cut my hair dry, colored it with a yummy smelling natural dye, and her assitant styled it. She (they) did a phenomenal job!! My hair looked and felt healthy and for the first time. I wasn't anxious to get home to wet it and redo it...in fact I wanted to go out on the town since it looked so great! Beautiful bouncy curls! The closest was Hair 166 about 25 miles away from home but worth every mile (I used to travel down to the city). I had a great 1st experience with Debbie a couple of weeks ago. Debbie understands curly girl and had been cutting her own curly hair for years because she could not get a decent cut. The salon is down home and low key, nothing fancy or glitzy. Debbie is the owner and main stylist. Her assistant Wendy has straight hair and is very nice, she cuts some hair and does shampooing/nopooing and styling. Debbie took the devachan training. she cuts dry. She cut each curl and layered my hair, cleaning up the dead ends. i will go back to her again.

Debbie understands curly girl and had been cutting her own curly hair for years because she could not get a decent cut. The salon is down home and low key, nothing fancy or glitzy. Debbie is the owner and main stylist. Her assistant Wendy has straight hair and is very nice, she cuts some hair and does shampooing/nopooing and styling. Debbie took the devachan training. she cuts dry. She cut each curl and layered my hair, cleaning up the dead ends. i will go back to her again.
