I just took my 5 year old daughter for a cut with Alexa. She was amazing!!! She was so good with her, they were both laughing the whole time ;o) Her hair looks wonderful! She is Deva trained and is very knowledgable on curly hair; as hers is curly too! Anything that I didn't know, she took the time to explain to me. I just referred two different friends too (one who has a child with curly hair as well). As long as she's there we will never go anywhere else!

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to say I just got a great hair cut by Jackie at Modern Concepts. I had my hair cut by Alexa before and she did a fabulous job as well. But don't hesitate to get an appointment with Jackie. She took the time to talk to me before the hair cut to figure out what I wanted and how I normally deal with my hair. She wasn't pushy about doing what she wanted with my hair, just offered her opinions and suggestions to help me figure out how much to cut etc.
She is also very friendly and funny so it makes the experience much more enjoyable. Getting my hair cut can sometimes feel like going to the dentist so anything that helps take the edge off is good! Give Jackie a try if you a new curly girl to the salon!

I have been going to Alexa for about a year and she does a fabulous job every time. She really understands curly hair and is very passionate about what she does. She is Deva trained and is also always exploring other products as well. She has been the only stylist who has helped me to achieve a nice looking bang that blends well with my curly hair. On top of all that she is an authentically sweet person. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I highly recommend Alexa and Modern Concepts Salon. I will only go to stylists experienced in the Ouidad, Deva or similar curly hair cutting techniques (after a lifetime of poor experiences with various stylists) and I'm very happy after my first visit to Alexa today. My hair was in poor shape after not having it cut or highlighted in quite awhile, and Alexa did a fantastic job with not just the Deva cut but the color is one of the best I've had in over 10 years of getting highlights. She gave me a deep conditioning glaze at no cost because it would help make the color even better, which I thought was very generous. The friendly, inviting atmosphere of the salon was also great and everyone was very attentive and welcoming, which made it more of a spa atmosphere and an enjoyable afternoon of pampering. Not one mention of purchasing products from the salon or in any way pushing products, which was a refreshing change from other salons in the area. If you're a curly-head in Ashburn or Loudoun County, definitely visit Alexa!

Yesterday, I went and had my first "deva" cut with Alexa and Modern Concepts salon in Ashburn, VA (Northern Virginia - about 30-45 mins outside DC). She was great and really took the time to tell me what she was doing and why. She also explained that while she was trained in the deva method, she also has developed and refined it for her own use on various curl types. She also showed me how to do pin curls and did a deep treatment, showing me what she did/how much product/etc that she used for every step. I'm very happy with my experience overall and would definitely recommend her to anyone in the area.
