I went to Jackie, after my sister had a hair cut and consult with her. Jackie's consult was superb. She has a very nice studio in Brookline, near the Elephant Wok. However, although she has done afro textured hair, 4abc, and 3c, she is not really comfortable with it. She had great ideas for highlighting and adding non toxic color blocks into the hair, but was not super knowledgagle with relaxers, softening treatments, and generally working with my hair type. There was a level of anxiety that I picked up and in conjunction with the expense, chose to go elsewhere. However for non-afro curlies, I'd think she would be just fine!

Jackie is awesome! I have curly hair (and lots of it), and have struggled to find a stylist in Boston who truly knows how to, not just cut my hair, but also style it. I read some great reviews about Jackie, who's a pro with the Ouidad method of cutting curly hair, and thought I'd try it out. I'm so happy with the cut and LOVE my new head of hair. She really took her time to ask me what I want and what I was looking for and explained everything she was doing. She has a great eye and knew exactly how to style my hair to frame my face. She also has a great personality and a chilled atmosphere in her salon. Worth every penny!

I have thick, curly hair and everywhere I go, when my hair grows out it looks like a triangle! J Earley's (www.jearleyshairsalon.com) is the only place where I've been able to get a curly hair cut that grows in and it still looks as good as the day I got it cut! She is AMAZING and has done wonders for my hair. Plus, she uses all organic mop hair products so my hair looks healthier too. Just read all her amazing reviews at http://www.yelp.com/biz/j-earleys-hair-salon-brookline-2

I went to Jackie based on a recommendation as well and she made a complete mess of my hair. I went back to her to fix the color but it was still so bad after her fix that I went to my mother's stylist on Newbury and he said it was the worst color and cut he had ever seen. I had literally SPOTS on blonde on my hair and the cut was on a diagonal and this was just a week before my wedding. She is the worst stylist I have ever been to, her salon is dingy and underground and she was hardly sorry when I confronted her about how poorly my hair looked. THE WORST STYLIST I HAVE EVER GONE TO!!!!

Please beware! I went to Jackie because of all the great reviews I read on this site. I'm so sorry I did. The first cut was ok. The second cut was a nightmare. She didn't remember me at all, even when I tried to jog her memory. A friend of hers stopped by and Jakie talked to her almost the whole time about her vacation. I was tempted to say "please concentrate!" but I assumed she knew how much she could do at once. I was wrong. The 2 inches we agreed she'd take off became 3-4. She did some technique with the scissors I never saw before which completely thinned out my thick hair WAY too much, and took away ALL the great curl! I've been wearing a hat ever since and praying for my hair to grow fast. I think it's the worst cut I've ever had. Please let my story be a warning to you!

Glad to see Jackie's listed on this site. Great curly (and non-curley) haircuts and she does nice coloring too. Highly recommend her. She is conveniently located directly across from the St. Mary's T-stop of the Green Line (Cleveland Circle train).
