I have to admit, when I pulled up to this salon, I almost did not go inside. The shopping center that it is in is pretty dingy and the salon itself is borderline gross! With that being said, I was extremely impressed with Mike and his knowledge and skill with curly hair. We discussed a "plan" for growing out my shoulder-length hair into longer curls, and he seemed to really understand the "struggles" of curly hair. I am very pleased with my hair, and am a believer in Mike! One warning...make sure you don't have plans after your haircut, as his "styling" looks a little outdated!

When I read the original review on Mike, I called immediately to schedule an appt. I had a particularly bad cut (just 4 weeks prior) and he had me in for a consultation and explained what we would work toward. Two months later was my first cut and friends noticed right away. I've been going to his salon for a little more than a year and I absolutely love my hair now. People stop and ask who cuts it/what styling products I use/how I style it. It's pretty surprising considering the last time my hair was considered "stylish" was somewhere around 1989--for well over a decade (almost 2!) I convinced myself the reason I didn't look current was my total refusal to put in the time and effort required for blow-outs. Not so. It was the cut. I had so many layers, no 2 strands of hair were the same length. Mike is really talented but the salon is a little grubby....I referred my husband and one of my guy friends to Mike and both of them commented on the state of the salon. I have to admit it's the bachelor pad of salons--but hey, I'm getting a hair cut, not having dinner there--you know? I'm happy with my hair for the first time in almost 20 years--I'll put up with a little grunge.

So, I wrote the original review on Mike, he is the owner of the salon. While I still love his cuts (cannot find anyone better around here, I looked) I am extremely dissapointed in his salon over the last year. There are just a few other stylists working in the salon and the last few times I've been in there, the salon has been in dire need of a good cleaning. Don't get me wrong, his ability with curly hair is amazing but the icky salon has me thinking of finding another stylist. again. I looked for a long time but no one can work the magic like him. :(
