I found Alex, the owner of Elixir, almost two years ago while recovering from an overzealous stylist whose attempt at thinning left me with uneven clumps of straggly long hair and can happily share that she has what every curly girl wants, starting with curly hair herself. Alex was the first person who didn't immediately take scissors and start lopping, but had the patience to help me grow out my hair until there was enough of it for her to work with. She also respected my desire to go slow with coloring, adding highlights so subtle not even the spouse noticed. I know Alex can do more edgy and dramatic work, but I love that she respects her customer's wishes and listens.
