Stylist: Tara

Tara did a great job and the cost was cheaper than expected. She already knew the concept of shaping my hair and she didn't try to comb through it while she cuts causing frizz. Great stylist.

Stylist: Marcela

I have been going to the Hair Cuttery on New York Street for a while now. The reason being because Marcela is one of the best stylists I've been to that does a phenomenal job cutting my curly hair. I'm about a 3b and every single time she cuts my hair it comes out looking just the way I want it. She's very sweet and kind. She has been cutting curly hair for a long time so she knows what to do with it to take advantage of the curls that you have. I love her very much and won't go to anyone else. I always pay $15 for a shampoo and cut. It's a great price for a wonderful look!

Stylist: Stephanie

I gave Stephanie a 5 out of 5 because 1) She is cordial and professional at all times while making a visit to the hair salon (which I hate) fun and relaxing. 2) She discusses EVERYTHING she has in mind prior to beginning. And that's at EVERY visit. 3) She clearly knows curly hair. She has curly hair and, as she discusses your hair with you it's clear that she knows what she is talking about. She asks the right questions about everything ranging from your routine, products, lifestyle, desired results, and even how much you want to spend. 4) She keeps neat, clean station and tools. 5) She keeps me looking good on a budget. Even when her prices went up to Master Stylist (yay!!) I was more than happy to pay because I knew I was getting a steal all along. I moved to Atlanta and miss her much. For the first few months I simply went all of the way back to NJ when I needed a trim.

Stylist: Leslie

I just started my locs and I must say that I am so happy that I did! Leslie's consultation made me feel both at ease and excited about my decision. She really seems to care about the health of my hair. We discussed everything from products all the way down to how to tie up my hair. She also listened to me which is very important. So many stylists do what they want but she put me first. I would recommend Leslie for all of your haircare and styling needs.

Stylist: Brenda

I wish I could add pictures so you can see what she was able to do with my hair. She is an excellent stylist. She was able to focus on SHAPE when she cut my hair, just like I wanted, and she also considers health. She only did what I asked and asked before she did anything else. Excuse me, but I think it's a wonderful blessing to be able to find in anyone who can cut curly african american hair anywhere, let alone in our small town. Check her (or Leslie) out if you have curly, natural, permed hair or want to experiment with any of the above.

Stylist: Brenda

I really like change. So I needed a haircut that could go from curly to straight and still look good. Brenda answered all my weary questions, explained what she would do and what the results would be. She gave me her portfolio and showed me a couple of different looks that would work for me. She explained what my hair needs to acheive the seperate looks I wanted. I had a very good experience.

Stylist: Brenda

Brenda listened to my tale of woe from a previous stylist and then patiently worked step by step and talked me through each phase before any cutting occurred. She knows curly hair! She offered to blow dry, but I requested styling tips for making my combination hair look good. Compliments are pouring in! Thanks, Brenda!!

Stylist: Michael Matty

Here's a great stylist: Michael Matty at the Haircuttery at Clark and Gregory in Andersonville. I was in the midst of a hair emergency: I have fine, curly hair that goes ash blond/brown in the winter. I had gone to a beauty school and allowed them to do a full head of highlights which went ruinously wrong! My curly hair looked frizzy, fried, and awful, and the highlights made me look like Lemony Snicket. Michael did a thorough consultation then spent three hours gently toning, weaving, and coaxing my hair back from disaster. He gave me a beautiful, deep, slightly coppery blond with a few expertly placed light highlights. My hair is in good condition and looks beautiful, and Michael's demeanor was friendly, intelligent and relaxed throughout my visit. People kept coming in for walk-ins and they all asked for him by name - he has to turn people away. And he can cut curly hair, too. Don't be put off by the fact that he's in a Haircuttery - he's worked at Asha, too, and he's just great!
