I went to Maria and she cut my hair beautifully. It was all damaged from the previous hair stylist's cut I had done in another salon. It was all different lengths and a hairstyle that made me cry. I felt so ugly and awful and my hair was sticking out like a big puffy dome head. I have type 3c curl pattern/african american hair and she cut my hair beautifully. It framed my face and suits me to a tee. It was just what I wanted. It is so cute and Maria is so kind, friendly and helpful and knows how to cut curly hair she's amazing. It was the best haircut I ever got. I couldn't find any hairstylist in vancouver who could cut my hair until I went to her. All my frustrations is over now after I tried all the top notch salons but Maria is the best she knows how to frame your face and give you a cut to suit you and your personality and she makes sure your hair is not too puffy and makes you look perfect and beautiful. I will definitely be going back.
Go to Maria if you have very curly hair or african american hair she knows what she is doing and you can trust that you will walk out of there happy and not feeling like a freak.
ps. the salon is lovely, clean and they use beautiful eco friendly products that work terrifically on curly/african american hair.

Recently I moved from Washington DC (where I saw a curly guru at Fiddleheads Salon) to Vancouver and was at a loss. Even after looking at the suggestions/reviews on this site, I was having a hard time deciding and committing to someone, as it didn't seem like there were many stylists out here that I felt I could trust with my hair.
It took me a long time (and some bad hair days) to finally decide to commit to a stylist. I started researching the salons listed here and when I went on Clover Salon's website (the salon had no reviews on naturally curly, just a listing) I found Maria, whose profile mentioned that as a curly herself she has a passion for working with curly hair and has gained a 'curly club' following from other curlies in Vancouver.
I decided to give her a shot. I've only seen Maria once so far but will be going back over and over and over. She did a fantastic job with both my cut and color. My curls are beautiful and happy; I haven't had a bad curl day since and that makes me happy.
If you're trying to find a good curly stylist in Vancouver, I definitely recommend Maria.
