I made an appointment with Colie as a last ditch effort to regain my curls. My hair is not what it used to be. I'm in my late 40s and my hair has changed quite a bit in the past 10 years. It used to be thick and incredibly curly. As I've aged (and treated it with color, no doubt), it's become thinner and finer.
I was moving on from a stylist who didn't even have a diffuser in her studio. I found Colie and announced that I wanted to see if my hair would still curl. She laughed, and three great cuts later, I'm happy to report that my curl has returned. It's much easier to take care of now since Colie has been cutting it. I don't have to fight with it anymore and coax it to curl. I'm especially pleased that Colie knows what cut is right for my hair without me having to give her extensive direction.

I think this is one of the few times where I've immediately liked my cut right after - usually I have to wait for it to grow out. I'm excited to see what other ideas she has for my hair in the future. Also, I think my favorite thing about Colie is that she actually listens to what you want for your hair. I'm sure a lot of other curly ladies have gone into a salon and asked for something and have come out looking like a poodle, but I came out looking exactly like I wanted to - or even a little better!

I have a round face and curly/wavy/frizzy hair that seems to generally be a nightmare for stylists. I hate going somewhere new because so often I go home and cry or recut my hair because it's so bad- or pay $75 for a mediocre cut I could've accomplished with my kitchen scissors. It's been a year and a half since I've had a haircut because I've dreaded it so much. BUT Colie was not intimidated by my round face or curls AT ALL. I really wanted something different and she found something that was different without being too edgy for me, complimented my face shape amazingly, met my requirement of being super low maintenance and looks SO FREAKING CUTE! I have never loved a haircut so much in my entire life and I'm 35 so that's saying something. Also, I NEVER leave the salon without either crazy poofy hair or a ton of frizz (usually both) but somehow Colie managed to make it look awesome even after using that little fine tooth comb and it partially drying before she put any product in it. Plus, she only used one product in it and accomplished this amazing feat. What the heck. Let me tell you, I am happy to drive 40 minutes to get to Colie. I would recommend her to anyone- especially curly girls who typically dread getting a haircut!

She told me right then and there that I wouldn't necessarily get the results I wanted immediately, it would take a few cuts and several months. And she was sooo right! 9 months later my hair was (and still is) exactly where I wanted it to be and it would not look this good without her. Colie is absolutely brilliant with curly hair!

Colie at RikRak Studio in the Salonz building on Monona Dr. is fantastic! I've gotten nothing but compliments since she started cutting my hair a few years ago. Whether I have a short or long cut from her, I get compliments, and I love my hair. She listens to what I want and shows me what I can do with my hair. I originally found the salon Colie worked at via naturallycurly.com. a few years later, my curls and I will now follow her anywhere! She is so skilled at taming curls and yet keeping that healthy fullness i like my hair to have. She brings out the best in my curls! I get stopped and asked about my hair all the time, to the point my husband has suggested I print up little info cards with Colie's information, the products i use and my "styling" details. It took me years to figure out how to handle my hair and Colie is one of those people who freely shares her knowledge and teaches you how to be your best. Don't worry about feeling like you are "cheating on" your current stylist...you HAVE to see Colie if you have curls. Without a great cut, it won't matter what you do at home. you won't regret making an appt, but you might wonder why you waited so long!!

Finally! Someone in this town who knows how to cut curly hair! Colie has been cutting my hair for about a year. She knows how to take a ton of the bulk out of my hair, which I am always forever grateful for.. especially in the Summer. She also knows how to style it at the end. She won't just put some goop in your hair and send you out the door. She will take the time to twist set (aka. finger curl) so you leave looking like a curly haired rockstar!
