Wow! I've been to too many stylists who haven't lived up to the hype. Yukiko isn't one of them. She turned my long scraggly curls into a gorgeous head of springy ringlets. She definitely knows what she's doing.

I, too, am sadly disappointed with my hair. Julia provided great education about curly hair, but my haircut is the worst I have ever had. I told her to cut about 2-3 inches off my hair & she cut 5-6 inches off. The left side of my hair is approx. 3 inches longer than the right side.  And what really upsets me is that I sent them an email along with a picture of my hair & I got NO reply. They do not care if you are unhappy. They do NOTHING if you are dissatisfied with the results. It was an expensive lesson!!!

Sadly, this was the worst haircut I've had in a long, long time.  (I've worn my hair up almost every single day since.)  I went in with high hopes, because I've only ever had wet cuts and I was really looking forward to seeing what a Deva-cut and style would do for me.  I've been CG for over 10 years, but have always had wet cuts.  I will say that Yukiko and her assistant were very nice and very knowledgeable on the CG method.  I just didn't get what I went in for.  I wanted a more layered look (or a less all-one-length look), with some face framing.  What I got was almost all one length, with about 3" of layers at the very bottom.  My hair is down to the bottom of my shoulder blades, so it just hangs without the shorter pieces I'd asked for.  And the styling was pretty awful.  I had these weird, straight pieces hanging down in front.  They left a LOT of water in before clipping it  and putting me under the dryer, so I think the weight of the water pulled the curl out of those pieces.  I usually plop and then air dry for good bounce and curl definition.  And because I was under the dryer for so long, I went over the 2-hour appointment and had to pay extra for a 3-hour appointment.  I'm going back to my usual stylist next month, and can hardly wait!  I'll consider Olycurl an expensive learning experience.  At least I got the lust for a Deva-cut out of my system!

FINALLY! Someone who "gets it" in Thurston county. I have been searching for years to find a curly specialist who subscribes to the CG method (which makes my hair happiest!) and she is even in the same area as me. She listens, does great work, explains very well, is easily accessible, and overall provides an excellent experience. I already got compliments from strangers on my way home from my appointment--always a good sign!

After long, painful searching for a stylist who recognizes that curly hair is not the same as straight hair, only curly, I have been to what feels like every upscale salon in multiple metropolitan areas. Turns out, the expert is in a strip mall in Tumwater, behind a Dairy Queen! From now on, even if I'm up in Seattle, I'll make the trip down for a cut. I got a great cut, fantastic tips, and actually went home with my hair looking great! (With curls, the best I can hope for is a stylist who doesn't insist on blowing it dry, usually). And now, a week later, my hair is so happy and healthy! I paused in giving a 5 sheers rating, since I didn't go in for a couture cut, but the cut I got was just SO GOOD that even if Yukiko ends up being terrible at something designer, she'll still be light years better than the other stylists I've seen.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I went in pretty confident I knew my hair. Quickly I realized that there was sooooo much I didn't know! Yukiko is not only great at styling hair, but she is also an expert when it comes to the health and longevity of your hair. She looked at my current hair products, assessed the chemical content, and was able to give me concrete things to look for and avoid when it comes to the types of hair products I use. As our time went on she showed me many techniques to encourage my curl while keeping it hydrated. She is also quite funny and VERY nice, so overall it was THE BEST experience I have ever had in a salon. Not only did I walk away feeling like a hair expert, but I also came away with a killer haircut. I recommend Yukiko to any and everyone, regardless of hair type. Her knowledge of hair health is needed to navigate the endless rows of hair products! Go to her. You won't be disappointed.
