I've been going to Wild at Heart salon for a year and a half and Mychal is the best stylist I've ever had for my coily, curly (3B) hair.
Her cuts are superb! She works magic with her shears and my curls always look fantastic. She has a great way of gleaning what I want and executing the perfect cut.
Mychal's got an amazing talent for color as well! From blue to violet and now the creamiest blonde ombre you've ever seen she keeps me looking fresh. I get so many compliments on my hair!
Not only does she use curly girl products but she is also well versed in the CG method. I learn a new styling tip each time I see her and as the other reviewer mentioned she's introduced me to new looks I never would have thought I could pull off.
Mychal's talented, warm, dependable and smart. If you're lucky like me and live around or are visiting Portland, do yourself the best favor and make an appointment with her.

Mychal knows how to cut textured hair. Before seeking Mychal's services, several of my curly/wavy/kinky/coily friends gave me her card recommending her.
My former stylist was ok, but she wasn't skilled enough to give me a cut that wouldn't require silicones & heat tools to consistently achieve my desired look. I kept seeing her because she was nice, not because she was skilled, & then I had a traumatic haircut & couldn't bear to return again.
At our first appointment, Mychal handled my PTSD symptoms with professionalism, compassion & grace. She really listens & communicates thoroughly, & wouldn't start cutting until showing me the length she was removing & confirming I was comfortable with taking that much off. She was really mindful & sensitive of my PTSD & earnestly worked to earn my trust.
Mychal's the first stylist that was able to give me a truly full CG styling consult after the cut, showing me multiple looks to try with my new do. (I've never met a stylist that tried could do that without heat tools.) She really demonstrates all the versatility of my cut, & recommends styles that adhere to my low-maintenance /manipulation & kind-ingredients hair philosophy. & she shows me new looks that I never before thought I could pull off.
Mychal's skills & creativity are matched by her kindness & humor. I keep going to her because of her skills & creative eye, but getting my haircut is all the more exciting because Mychal is the type of personality one enjoys spending time with.
