I loathe sleeping with rollers. I already wake up and go about my day with restrictions and I refuse to sleep with any! Using magnetic rollers always left me hopeless, exhausted, and frustrated. Resorting to a curling wand or a curling iron was not an option because I was not willing to blow-dry and straighten in order to prep for the style; that was too much manipulation, too much heat, and too much time that I did not have (or chose to allocate toward my hair”>. I am excited to see more heatless style tutorials that are quick to install and give you a head of beautiful curls. Pure Estrogen shows us how to create a voluminous roller set using bubble wrap, bobby pins, and a holding product on her 4c curl pattern. Here are the tools and now it is up for you to master the technique.

*It is ideal to start this style on stretched hair in order to achieve a sleeker finish.

  1. Cut the bubble wrap into your desired size
  2. Create a section starting in the front. Remember, the smaller the section, the smaller the curl. The bigger the section, the bigger the curl.
  3. Apply the African Pride Butter Miracle Bouncy Curls Pudding to the section, finger detangle, and then gently detangle with the rat tail comb. Detangling prior to using the bubble wrap will impart a smoother finish.
  4. Roll the pre-cut cut bubble wrap into the shape of a roller with the bubbly side folding inward.
  5. Extend the detangled section away from the scalp, hold it taut, and place the bubble wrap roller at the ends.
  6. Tightly roll the section upward toward the scalp.
  7. Secure the section with a bobby pin. In order to avoid tension on your edges, do not secure the bobby pin along the hairline.
  8. Wrap the style with a satin scarf so it can set overnight. Using a bonnet can create friction against the exposed hair.
  9. Release the style in the morning! Do not spritz with water, as it may cause the style to lose its integrity.
