BunFro Fashion Week promo models looking gorgeous!

Let’s start the September Curl Current off with a little joke here:

Knock knock.Who’s there?

September.

September who?

SEPTEMBER IS CHOCK FULL OF TOO MANY AWESOME HAIR EVENTS – ZOMG!

3 Events — 1 Month: ATL

September in the “A” keeps the hair show momentum flowing with three amazing, but distinctly different, natural hair events. On September 8, two of the West Coast’s leading stylists and natural hair mavens, Felicia Leatherwood and Dr. Kari Williams, will be presenting at “A Night with Shea Moisture” from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Curlies, it doesn’t get better than this line up in terms of curly hair education, so be sure to go and enjoy the free full size products, appetizers, cash bar and meeting your fellow naturals. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

Just after that is the World Natural Hair Show on September 10 and 11 at the Georgia International Convention Center. Pulling in thousands of visitors and hundreds of vendors for a two-day shopping and education bonanza, this is the largest curly hair show in the country. The fall show boasts a new Main Stage session called “Big Chop or Not” featuring the many different ways to transition to natural hair. Be sure to also check out the WNHS “Diaries of a Natural — The Fashion Experience,” a fashion show featuring natural hair styles and designers’ latest offerings on Saturday September 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Two weekends later is the one and only Fro Fashion Week, a smaller event geared at providing an intimate space for learning about natural hair, connecting with top natural brands, meeting new friends from around the country, and of course, reveling in a fierce fashion show. This phenomenal, and I mean absolutely phenomenal event, has a lot of fun and new, exciting features up its sleeve this fall, including a pool party and a penthouse party hosted by the one and only Kim Coles! Be sure to check out the new YouTube promo video — it makes my heart race just watching it!!

Meanwhile in the Virgin Islands…

Naturalistas in the Caribbean will be gathering for I Am Beautiful — the first curly hair event of its kind on the islands! Hosted by Miss Naturalista, the event spans over two days and two islands. On Saturday, September 24, the event will take place on St. Thomas followed by St. Croix on the 25. The event will be Emceed by yours truly, representing my Natural Selection blog, and feature presentations by stylist Felicia Leatherwood and YouTube Guru BlackOnyx. A Grand Celebration for College Curlies

Natural Trendsetters Models show off the natural hair expertise about to arrive on the FMU campus

On Monday September 12, Natural Hair Trendsetters will be hosting a grand opening celebration in honor of their new location on the campus of Florida Memorial University. The 12-year-old salon is Florida’s first and leading curly hair care provider, but this is its first salon geared towards providing a hair care resource to college students. The event will feature educational presentations by the stylists and will establish the salon as a resource for transitioners and veteran naturals alike. The event will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the JC Sams/Ocean Bank Student Center. For more information, stay tuned to the NTS Facebook page and website.
