The 84th Annual Academy Awards did not disappoint in the style department. The red carpet was filled with both the hottest names and the freshest faces in the movie and film industry. And the hairstyles gave great inspiration to the natural and curly hair community. Wavy updos, sleek, straight, curly and cropped styles all dominated the red carpet and gave us plenty to crush on!

Viola Davis

Viola Davis

Starting off with the show stealing, Viola Davis was stunning in an emerald green strapless Vera Wang gown, but her most noticeable accessory was her hair. "The Help" actress revealed to InStyle that she was encouraged by her husband to embrace her natural curls. Not only did she look fabulous, she also gave encouragement to the natural hair community for rocking her fearless cinnamon colored TWA for the entire world to see. Go Viola, Go!

Michelle WilliamsMichelle Williams

It seems like we can’t get enough of the pixie cut lately, so it was great to see it on the red carpet. Actress Michelle Williams was flawless in her Louis Vuitton coral ruffled dress, and she kept it simple with her jewelry and hair. A super cute pixie cute was the perfect choice for the occasion. It’s not only sleek, but playful at the same time.

Esperanza SpaldingEsperanza Spalding

It would be remiss if I failed to mention the beautiful afro of Esperanza Spalding. The 27-year-old signer captured the crowd with her rendition of “What a Wonderful World” during the tribute at The Oscars. She always looks dazzling, and her hair makes me happy to be natural!

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez

In a revealing Zuhair Murad gown, Jennifer Lopez gave us a classic elegant hairstyle. Her high bun allowed the focus to be on her dress and provided a sleek accessory for the evening.

Berenice BejoBerenice Bejo

This actress was in "The Artist" and I absolutely loved her braided bun hairstyle. The look was sleek and fun, with a side braid going back to a chignon. She had one of my favorite hairstyles of the night and I can’t wait to recreate it!

Missi PyleMissi Pyle

Another actress from "The Artist," Missi Pyle gave us curlies a beautifully sculptured updo to compliment her light blue eco-friendly Valentina Delfino gown. Her dress is actually made from recycled polyester and cruelty-free silkworm silk! Her hair is beautifully positioned to the side and no curl is out of place. Another great elegant hairstyle for the evening, all natural of course.
