NaturallyCurly: When did you start embracing your curls?

Estefani: I started embracing my curls in 2007 after my last relaxer and a traumatizing salon haircut experience. Basically, I asked my hairstylist to cut my splits ends, and she ended up cutting several inches off my hair. My straightened hair was around my shoulder, so you can imagine how short my hair looked curly. Ever since then, I remember telling myself to never cut my hair in order to make sure that I retain length. I also told myself that I would no longer be relaxing my hair to prevent breakage or fallout.

What's your daily hair routine?

Estefani: My daily hair routine consists of protective hairstyles. Since I wash my hair weekly, I try to do hairstyles that are going to last until my next wash. For example, twist outs, braid outs, wash and go’s, and buns.

What's your nighttime routine?

Estefani: My nighttime routine usually consists of the “pineapple” and a satin head wrap or scarf. This prevents my hair from frizzing and knotting overnight.

What are your go-to styles?

Estefani: My go-to styles are usually a simple wash and go, a low or high bun and my favorite, a perm rod set.

Estefani: My hair absolutely loves coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter, and olive oil. All of these ingredients leave my hair very shiny, hydrated, moisturized, replenished, and smooth.

What ingredients does your hair hate?

Estefani: I try to stay away from products that have fragrance and alcohols because it tends to make my hair dry, brittle, and frizzy.

How do the seasons affect your regimen?

Estefani: The seasons affect my regimen, depending on the weather outside. For example if it’s raining and humid, it’s going to make my hair frizzy and poufy. In the winter my hair tends to become more dry and brittle, so I make sure to moisturize more often.

We see that your channel is roller set galore! What is your favorite way to roller set your hair?
Estefani: My favorite way to roller set my hair is using perm rods. I discovered how to use perm rods by watching a YouTube tutorial. I absolutely fell in love with it, so I tried it at home and I’ve been doing perm rods for over a year now. It’s my one of my favorite hairstyles.
We adore your long, gorgeous curls and usually, the longer the hair, the longer the care. How do you cut down the hours spent on your hair?

Estefani: I cut down the hours spent on my hair by doing protective hairstyles that tend to last over a week. For example doing braid outs, twist outs, buns, or simple wash and go’s. These hairstyles are all easy and quick to do.
