Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we had the time of our lives during the second day of the World Natural Hair Show. If you’ve been tracking our posts, you know that we have pretty much seen it all within the past few days, and today was the icing on the already delicious cake.

Drawing a Crowd!

Yesterday was the day to take it all in, and today’s mission was to soak it all up. Classes were being held in the convention center for anyone who wanted a little information on healthy hair and body. What most people don’t know is that this annual natural hair celebration plays host to a bevy of health and wellness exhibits as well. We stumbled upon a Zumba class being held on the show floor, and had there been a little more room, we would have jumped right in. We had noticed a few fliers over the weekend promoting a book called “The Vegan Soulfood Guide To The Galaxy” by naturalista and vegan, Afya Ibomu. At the booth today we got the low-down from the author herself. We are no vegans, but the soul food in the book looks delicious-even if it is tofu!

Of course there were out of control hairstyles all over the show floor, but we had a blast at the Mizani True Textures booth. Chandra Thorpe showed us some really unique alternatives for formal styles this spring and summer. We stopped over at the Design Essentials Natural Textures classroom and filled up on a little education on their natural hair line. We can’t wait to try out the new caps and we’re looking forward to the blow dryer coming out in the fall!

ATL has been a gracious host to a large group of men, women and children who are all brought together once a year to celebrate all things natural and support each other on their journey to a more natural way of life. We may have a trade show hangover tomorrow, but events like this keep us smiling and help to remind us what it’s all about: being part of a larger community that shares the same beliefs that curls are beautiful.
