High porosity can be a result of damage from chemical processes, harsh treatment and environmental exposure. Other curlies have naturally porous hair. Read more about porosity.

Hair possessing average porosity allows moisture to pass into the cortex as needed, but resists permitting too much water to penetrate. Perming or coloring can be done in a predictable manner. Read more about porosity.
