There’s a lot of mold in the air around the NC headquarters.

But there’s also a lot of love! Either way, a lot of us are feeling all gushy—snot, emotions, it’s all the same thing. And that got us to thinking in between grabbing for tissues and other date-night delicates, what are our favorite love songs?

We had a few different answers!

Alex

Alex is always the picture of refinement, even when she’s working out and such. And so was the singer of her favorite love song: The late, great Aaliyah, singing One in a Million. There’s someone out there for everyone, even though Alex cautions that it might take time and “soul searching” before you find that one. I’m not a believer in soulmates myself, BUT it’s an undeniably sweet idea and a great song.

“Your love is one in a million

It goes on and on and on

You give me a really good feeling, all day long”

Fran

Fran works on our design team, creating the graphics y’all know and love from us! And her favorite love song is just as soft and warm as her cute oversized sweater collection: Best Part by Daniel Caesar feat. H.E.R. This song is chock full of adorable metaphors, and it sounds like the audio equivalent of a warm cup of chamomile tea. I’d actually advise not driving if this song comes on, because it’s very VERY relaxing, and “Sorry officer, I was listening to contemporary R&B” probably isn’t going to fly if you go over the median.

“You’re my water when I’m stuck in the desert

You’re the Tylenol I take when my head hurts

You’re the sunshine on my life”

April

Now on to my favorite subject! ME! I went with my usual fare: brain melting foreign electronica! Did you think that line about DDR in my bio was a joke? Mmmmm, no. It’s real. It’s real ANNOYING, muahahahahahaha. Love Shine, by Riyu Kosaka, is a longtime favorite of mine on DDR Extreme, and it’s actually one of the first songs I ever played and the one that got me hooked on the game in general.

“Kamisama, mou Chotto dake

Mimamotte kudasai.

HarisaKESOU na OMOI tsutaeru kara

Todoke!! Motto mabushii LOVE SHINE!!!”

And a rough, very non-direct translation of that would be:

“God, I’m asking you to please look out for us just a little bit,

I’m about to tell you something really deep,

This 100% real love is coming and it’s gonna knock your socks off!

LOVE SHINE!”

You can watch our takes on our lovey-dovey favorites right here!

Who wants to tell me why I’m always the only one singing on these things, by the way?

Guess my coworkers have more shame than I do. Or dignity. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to. But I really enjoyed seeing the love songs we all love, even if my Japanese IS a little rudimentary. Welp. Live and learn.

Curlies, what’s your favorite love song? Did any of yours match up with any of ours? Let us know in the comments!
